  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther, awesome!!!

I liked the trailor that had,I believe, Marlon Brondo doing the voice of Supermans real father.
He talks about the human race and how they want to do good, but they lack the knowledge and they need someone to show them the way....."...and for this reason, I'm sending you.....my only son."

Uhhh, goose bumps galore!! And almost a tear!

And it looks like they kept that same magic feeling that was in the previous Superman movies.

That line comes from the first Superman film with Christopher Reeve as Superman and Marlon Brando playing his father. Hubbys just watching it now....and yeah, I got the goosebumps!

It's looking like a visually awesome film, but I might wait for dvd as I'm not happy with alot of the story elements Singer decided to go with for this film.

How so? I figured it's pretty good. Superman is gone for five years, the world has learn to live without him. Lois is a mommy and Lex is actually doing what Lex does. It portrays Superman as a human being trying to find his place in the world.

However, I am glad they did not go with McG and his vision:doh: . He wanted Nick Cage to play Superman:eek: and run with "Superman Lives". Doomsday was going to kill Superman in that one.

The problem I have is this. After all this time, they needed to do a reboot like Batman. The previous Superman films were Christopher Reeve's films. That was his era. To try and have some sort of continuation of Superman 1 & 2 is just wrong.

Now that I got that out of the way, the storyline and structure of the film is going to be pretty much like Donner's film with updated effects. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it would have been nice to go in a more imaginative direction (And not the McG way either, but something that stayed true to the comics but was different than the Donner films). When it comes to the storyline, our main villian is guess who...Lex. There is no super villians, nothing to really cause a hurting on Superman. Then we have the biggest mistake that will haunt the writers for as long as this creative team last...the kid. From what I gather from the script reviews and things, this totally throws the comics out the window. Since this is spoiler info I'll skip over it, but let's just say this will be the low point of the film. Another problem I have is the actor they picked, totally doesn't look the part. If they were going to link this film with the previous Superman films at least pick someone who resembles Reeves. Then there is the girl who is playing Lois, the superman suit. Well, basically there are many things I have problems with, in regards to how everything is going. Of course, this is all my opinion, but I was just hoping for something better when it came to Supes.

On the topic of Supervillains.

Actually in the story...Lex hires a group of people who specialize in taking down Superheroes. I can't be certain...but I believe one of them is super-powered. I heard Brainiac makes an appearance in some form in order to set up for the sequal.

That's not what I have been reading and the numerous people who have gotten their hands on the script have said Lex is the only villian, with his whole plan being some land deal which will lead into the climax of the story.
