In some ways, I feel like the Superman series is a classic that shouldn't be touched, like making another Godfather. Superman isn't on GodFather's level, but just so you get the point.

I feel like the new Superman has a heavy burden of pressure to carry, the way Pierce Brosnen did when he became the first new Bond after Sean Connery, who played the part brilliantly and without flaw. Furthermore, all the love and emotion to Mr. Reeve, due to his unfortunate accident, and his very said death, is something that many fans will have in thier hearts as they see this film.

Also, because of how superbly Christopher Reeve played both Clark Kent and Superman, the new guy has a near impossible acting goal post.
The best way to get around this challenge, is to go a whole new direction with the the Clark Kent character.

Either way, I think this will be something I'll enjoy.
i'm glad they are shooting this movie because this franchise needed to be touched to forget parts 3 and 4. part two was butchered because the producers at the time had a falling out with richard donner. i'm also happy that the 2nd movie is being reedited to restore as much of the original story as possible.

the writer has no say on how a movie is shot. if the writer is there, it is because the director wants them there. i don't know if you know how movies are made. the script is a rough outline of how a movie ought to be shot, but ultimately, it's the director and editor. the final movie is the final script. any film 101 wanna be geek can tell you that. entire scripts can be rewritten on the spot because of the thing called the editing room.

the family man was also mediocre; the fact that he got a good performance from nicolas cage is because cage is a good actor who runs with parts.

Yes, the writer has no say on how a movie is shot. But without that writer you have no movie! It all starts from the script. I do know how movies are made. Of course the final movie is the final script, but if you don't have an actual written script to shoot from first you have no movie at all. Common Sense dude.

The Family man was not mediocre. Maybe in your opinion but in my opinion it was a great film. It had a great story that made you think and had some great performances. Cage wasn't the only one to give a good performance. Everyone involved did so.

Either way, we shouldn't continue this discussion in this thread since it is a Superman Returns thread.

I would expect a longer trailer in the next couple of months. I'm hoping for something a bit more action packed trailer wise. The teaser was kind of lackluster, but the music was awesome.

What else could you expect from a teaser;) . Well, what we saw hadn't been edited yet, but the official trailer should be pretty awesome. Add to the fact that Bryan Singer used a new camera that has never been used before in movies. June 30 is marked on my calender.

There have been teasers that have been more exciting. Like I said, the SR teaser wasn't something that said "Wow, I have to see that movie!" What it did do though was get the word that a new Superman flick is coming. I guess in that it succeeded but it didn't have a wow factor. Hopefully the full length trailer will contain the wow factor.

I'm trusting Singer will deliver a good flick, but I know I will probably have some nitpicks.

Another good site for all things about super hero films is www.superherohype.com

I must say, this is a good summer for movies. M:i III, Poseidon, Over the Hedge, X-Men 3, Cars, Superman Returns, Pirates 2. It's gonna be a fun summer in the movie world for sure.

Except for X3, all those movies are crap.

Superman Returns was nowhere near the quality of X3 and Spiderman 2. It was okay, nothing mindblowing. I liked that shot that payed homage to the first Superman cover, though. Good stuff.

O-M-G!!1111 lol They're both average directors. Singer has "The Usual Suspects", which was all screenplay; Brett Ratner a Mariah Carey video. They're not as talented as Sam Raimi...who isn't so great neither! But each X-men movie has been better than the last one. The second spidey film is better than all the x-men put together. And Superman Returns is just okay. I expect Spiderman 3 to blow all those movies out of the water. Crap, even Batman Begins was better than Superman..except it had Katie Holmes in it...she sucks.

No I know Batman Begins was better than Superman Returns. I don't like any of the Spiderman movies to be honest. But the storyline and screenplay in X2 was so well written. Sorry I heart Byran Singer's work...he is a very brillant man :)
