• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has tried attending Sunday school only and skipping the sermon? I am considering trying this as I think that the structure of a class combined with the limited amount of noise and socialization might make the idea of attending church a little more manageable and realistic. Additionally, there are very well defined start and end times, as Sunday school is typically sandwiched between early and late morning sermons. There might be a few minutes of unstructured socialization time, but it would quickly dissipate at a set time, thus clearing out the chaos and making a clear path of exit :) Has anyone tried this? How did it go? Thanks!

I have a nephew who has acute autism. My nephew can't stand certain noises, but he very much likes worship music, and often wears headphones with a recorder playing his favorites. But autism is a very wide range of different symptoms, so you will have to figure out your specific needs. Personally, I prefer Biblical teaching and reading of scripture, as that seems to me is the greatest power for the healing of the soul.
