Summoning angels

Can angels be summoned or is that based on inaccurate teaching? I have heard about summoning angels for help and because they are messengers. Also, do guardian angels exist? I could use a miracle right about now. It is somewhat like asking God in prayer to send ministering angels to help us in certain situations. That is what I meant by summoning angels.

I am not a baptist so I can not tell you what they believe about guardian angels, I would guess that it is not a doctrinal issue so some believe in them and some do not, but I am not a baptist so I can not really speak on that

To ask God to send His angels is ok as long as you do it with a humble mindset that God is in charge, you have no power over God or His angels
be careful, there is a LOT of New Age stuff about angels that is very heretical, do not get confused, go to the Bible for your information about angels and not New Age teachers

I don't know of any place in scripture where we're told that we can or should summon angels. Catholics often pray to Michael the Archangel, but that's Unbiblical, of course.

Why would you want to summon an angel to begin with?

I think your being mislead... I don't believe you can summon Angels from heaven or Guardian Angels here on earth. You can summon demons or evil spirits that dwell on earth trying to corrupt mankind.

From my understanding!!! Yes You can summon evil spirits. What you must keep in mind is that these spirits can take on any form. so they might appear as something good or someone that has your best interest at heart but is only out to steal your soul. Black Magic is real...

I honestly don't know. But I don't see any reason to summon ANYTHING, angel OR demon. If God thinks you need an angel, He will send you one.

There's no need to summon them. They are already always in service of us.

There is alot of misunderstanding about the role of angels. Many people think that each person has a "personal" guardian angel. But no where in the Bible do we read this.

Instead, what we have is much better! The entire angelic host is in immediate service to the church as a whole. See Heb 1:14

I recommend that you refrain from summing angels. Pray to God for help. He is perfectly capable of deciding how best to help you. Just leave it to Him. Summoning angels, good or bad, is dangerously close to worshipping them as New Age devotees do.

Absolutely! Prayer and Faith. I love studying about the principles of Faith and Hope as taught in the LDS doctrine (Moroni 37). "...it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain."

Yes, one can summon ministering angels and it requires faith.

As a member of the prayer team at church I often do ask the lord to give his angles charge over those who are vulnerable, like the teenagers etc... I'm not aware of any verses addressing it but it never hurts to ask. Jesus did say "Ask anything", Does "anything" mean something different in greek?

No offense, but it seems many of you are learning your angelology and demonology from hollywood, not the Bible.

Back on topic: you have no need to summon angels. Nor do you have an individual "guardian angel". Such a concept is foreign to the Bible. However, the truth is, you have something even better than a single, individual "guardian angel". The Bible says that the entire angelic host is given watch over believers and ministers to them.

Further, since God himself is with us (believers), and since He is omniscient and omnipotent, does it really matter whether or not you have an individual, finite "guardian angel" with you? I think not.
