• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am writing to express a very deep concern of mine.

I do not like seeing this forum used to write sucide notes.

1. It is against CF rules:

3.4 No Threats of Self-Harm or Suicide

You will not make threats of this nature and such posts will be either edited or removed promptly by Staff. While Christian Forums staff and members can provide some support, they cannot offer professional counseling. If you are having thoughts or impulses of this nature, please contact your local mental health care provider or emergency services immediately.

2. Staff then have the task of having to remove posts that we don't want to remove. If we remove them, the member doesn't get to read the really wonderful encouragement of why to live by their fellow members.

3. It causes a great deal of distress to other members. We worry about the person. Then if they happen to lose their internet, if they go to the hospital for several days, if their parents restrict them to use their computers, their computers break down, etc etc. the members here are all upset thinking the person they are worried about has killed themselves.

Members here might think they are to blame for the possible death of a fellow member and think things like: "If I had not posted about my problems, they might not have lost hope", or "If I had posted better encouragement they might have not killed themselves".

Then we see at times someone think that the one post about suicide is a "good idea" and they follow suit and post the same kind of thing. (Copycat suicidal threats are actually very common in communities.)

Reason's number 3 is the main reason that the rule about this was created that one could not threaten self harm or suicide.

So, I have started this thread for the main purpose of members here being able to write what they would say to someone who was threatening suicide. Please post all your encouraging words about why not to do this act.

I am seriously thinking of moving some posts here from threads that we might have to remove because of suicidal threats. I will think about this and write to you to ask permission to do this. If you know you have recently written a post like that and want it moved here please pm me and I will help accomplish this.

Christ is in our midst!

Yes, I just wanted to tell Morninglife that if he lives in the UK, the medication and the therapy are free. I wanted to urge him to seek the help which he needs. Also to let him know that ending it is not the way to go. His parents would be devastated. Try to have hope and try to get help. Things will improve. As you get older, your life will become easier to handle. You may overcome your problems, then. Please have hope for the future. God bless.

Oh, uh, about that...I don't really live in the UK, I live in the US. When I was registering, I figured nobody would ever care what country I was from so it wouldn't matter what I picked. And I like using British English.

Hey Morninglife, fellow Americian here. There are plenty of free clinics out there for us who are uninsured and don't have that much cash. The doctors that give their time and expertise, well, God bless them. They also give free meds, counsiling to those who can't afford it.
Your local mental health, also has programs for those who can't afford their care, government funded programs, so you pay either nothing or very little.
I know that it is expensive to go see a doc and to pay for med, ect, trust me I do, but it's worth your wellbeing. Truely it is.
God Bless!

I just want to add that I have found a partnership prescription programme which is currently running in the US. Here is the link:

https://www.pparx.org/about.php

It is for people who cannot afford prescriptions. I hope that anyone reading this will seek the help that they need. It is out there for free, if you cannot afford to pay. God bless.
