  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As of now I am using geocites because it is free. I am wanting to upgrade to real web hosting where I can possible make better webpages. My questions is what web hosts do yall recomend please list price storage etc.. and if they have software that almost anyone can use to build the pages. also if you can use other programs like front page or something. I dont know much about it so these might be the wrong questions but they are what im looking for.

second. What web page creator programs do yall recomend like front page and which ones could I make decent web pages without having to learn to much html etc.. Im looking for a program where I could basically just find the html script and past it onto the webpage program easy stuff like that. Thanks

For web hosting I recommend DreamHost. I've used them for 5 years with no problems. Their cheapest web hosting plan is $10/month, includes 500 MB of space, 25 GB bandwidth/month, and various other bells 'n whistles (PHP support, CGI, MySQL database, etc). You can see a list of their features here: http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

For programs, Dreamweaver is the best by far. Btw, if you're looking to make good web pages, you'll might as well learn how to code them. Programs can only do so much, and knowing how the background code actually works will make you a much better web designer. It will get you more creativity and control than simply relying on code by others.

Dreamweaver is OK, but Mozilla Composer is also good, and it's free.

Viper Web Hosting is someone I highly recommend there lowest cost 6 dollars for 200 mbs of space and 2gbs of bandwidth but they do a lot of custom deals and they also have a lot of other deals you can look at. Also they can get your domain set up and they have PHP, ASP and other types of language tools as well as support of MySQL and CGI.

if you're still looking for free head over to www.webhosts4free.com....they have hundreds of links to completely free web hosts......

but for paid webhosting i'd definitely reccommend webarama. i'm not actually sure about the pricing but they have absolutely top-notch support...they do their best to reply to any and all support emails within 24 hours. and if their servers go down their techie peoples are automatically text messaged so they can get them back up again ASAP...

I just switched one site to lowesthosting.com (4.95 per month and lots of features... check their site for details... first year domain name is free if I remember correctly.) Lowesthosting.com is by far the least expensive option I've found with the most space. So far, support has been above average.

I also have a site on efree2net.com (recommended by a programmer). The cost is a little higher, but still under $10 a month... depending on the features you need.

In my opinion, Dream Weaver is the best web development software, but Microsoft Front Page is easier to learn and use if you're new to web page development programs.

If you want a website, but don't want to program, learn HTML, or buy DreamWeaver, check out PHPWebsite and TikiWiki (just use Google) .. much better than PHPNuke.

Also, Europe's largest web hoster is opening a new division in U.S., and offering 3 years free hosting with 5GB bandwidth (equivalent to what you can get for about $8-12 per month from others).

This website won't let me post links yet, so all I can say is look for the 3 year free special from 1and1.com (expires sometime soon). I'm making a longer post in this same topic on "Website Hosting for Christian/Catholic Organizations" if you want to know more about hosting options.

Shalom! I would like to see a star of david icon. I do not know where to post this. so sorry! I do not know how I got involved in "anglican" icon. I don't remember suggesting that one, especially since I am a Messianic Jew. It just doesn't make sense to me. We have lots of crosses. I am curious as to what an "anglican" icon would look like? I have seen a celtic cross and have seen the ritual performed in Israel that a orthodox church does. I can't remember if it was greek, french or what.
