  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Norah Jones, nice... soft .... sweet...

And country, while it may not be the most "romantic" (depending on what type of romantic you're looking for ;) ), it does have some of the sweetest songs.

What happens when you play a country song backwards? Your dog comes back, your wife remarries you, you sober up, and your truck starts running again.

Number one form of music in the United States is, has, and always will be country music. It out sells rap, rock, heavy metal, and any other form year after year after year. Country music is the truly American form of music.

Also, as a side note, not so many country music singers getting arrested, OD'ing, shooting themselves, etc etc etc ;) And actually, a lot of country music singers are Christian too.

But that doesn't mean everyone has to like it. It just means that country is not "out", in fact it's quite "in" in more parts of America than any other form of music.

Hate to point this out, but look up sales numbers anywhere. There are a heck of a lot of people in Kansas that aren't buying "Puff Daddy's Latest" or whatever the next album is. In fact you don't see much of anything in Kansas except the latest country albums. And that's more true for more states across the US.

But hey, look how many people here are recommending country music. ;)

Joy,
"I Could Not Ask For More" by Sara Evans... another great country song!

Hey, how about "My Valentine"!?
Isn't there a guy that sings it too? I knew Sara Evans did...but I was thinking I had heard a male voice sing it on some of the non-country stations? Maybe I'm hallicinating...it wouldn't be the first time! :D

Hey, can we reserve the music debate for, say, the music forums? Especially since there are those that like country, rap, rock, pop, etc and there is no need to offend anyone's preferences by saying one type of music is stinky or whatever.

thankyouverymuch (a la Elvis)

I have seen a CD called "Wedding Songs" at the Christian bookstore I shop at...they are all Christian songs...and I'm sure it would be pretty good. Also, maybe look up on Google wedding songs or something along those lines, I'm sure that there would be a big long list...;)
