I Think Jesus was submissive to his church and the world in general because he came as a servant to us all. That does not take away from his other qualities, it only shows how all virtue comes from him. In God all virtues are perfectly United.
As was already discussed, it is irrational to think that being submissive means blind obedience. Jesus did not have blind obedience to his church! No virtue is divine without Divine wisdom/truth and love/goodness.
