I really like that this thread is about what God says and not about human disbelief. JFRYI that's not flattery.

bumpJust to quick catch up on our last study:
Study 5 Genesis 7:1-8:19
Noah
1) What was God's part in Noah's salvation, and what was Noah's? Cf. Eph 2:8; Phil 2:12-13; 1 Pet 1:5
God gave the gift through faith. And Noah pleased God. I think he learned from his heritage how to do that.
Noah was the "but" to change the age. The whole world had gone wrong "but Noah found grace" like the nation all went into slavery "but Daniel"
2) In the ark Noah wasn't saved from being affected by the Flood at all, but he was brought safely thru it. Cf. " saved thru the water", 1 Pet 3:20. In what similar way does the gospel of Christ offer us salvation from God's judgement upon sin?
If we please Him He's faithful to bring us thru.
I heard a funny story to the effect of "God didn't put Noah along the side of the ark and told him to hang on, but placed him safely inside and He closed the door that only He could open.
I'm looking forward to hearing your comments. Still achy from the flu even with the Bragg's apple cider viniger that someone suggestedHope to be more lively soon.

Welcome to the forums. I'm looking forward to your contributions on the study.Hi,
This is an awesome thread that you have. I came across it and am absolutely inspired by it. It makes me want to study The Bible more and more! Thanks. Keep up the great work! I have started the study's and would like to catch up with everyone, but I don't want to rush it. I've decided that I will do the daily studies and in my own private time or when time permits I will do the other studies!! Thanks again.

Study 6 Gen 8:20-9:29Who were the sons of God? I've been curious about that myself and did some studying and myself, I rather lean to the thought that they were not angels as I have wondered and others have also, as angels are not inclined to lust, they cannot propogate, or regenerate, angels are incorporeal beings and are not affected by fleshly desires. But rather that this was the posterity of Seth - Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. and those of Seth and those of the line of Cain were not to mix....Seth's family had moved up the mountain where Adam was lain and some did come down the mountain and mixed with the line of Cain and thus the sins became universal, causing the Lord to bring the flood.
Were they all killed in the flood or in the Red Sea when Israel was brought out of Egypt (assuming that's another form of judgement/baptism)? And yet there were giants in the promised land yet to be killed ( I see those as our giants in our own life that need to be defeated before we can come to rest in Him) This all just facinates me. You are right, this is very fascinating.......and I agree, I can see the giants as the things that need to be defeated in our own lives!
Genesis 6:4-5
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those daysand also afterwardwhen the sons of God (Seth's lineage)went to the daughters of men (Cain's lineage) and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
Jude 1:6-7
6And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own homethese he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
I think its amazing, how man, thinks he can do things without God seeing, when God even sees when His angels had fallen. Look at Satan, He was one of God's most glorious of angels, he was beautiful, played music for God, yet his vanity got the best of him, and man thinks that God won't see ours?
2 Pet 2:4,5;9,10
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; 5if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
9if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. I think this is both a promise for His children and a warning for those who aren't His children. He sees all and shall punish all, but for those who are His children, we shall be spared, all because He gave His son to die for us on a cross. Something so simple, yet made so complicated by man.
10This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority.
Job 1:6
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
In this one I think its truly angels....His heavenly creations, our helpers and Satan tried to sneak in because He is so vain thinking the Lord would not know, but in speaking to Him, we can see that, of course, our omniscient Lord knew that Satan was there and chided him for it. Can you just envision what it must be like, our Lord and a roomful of angels???? One day we shall see it for ourselves.
This I find very curious, I don't know if it speaks only of angels or humans that aren't following God's ways or what.
Jude 1:6
6And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home
1 Pet 2:10 The Lord knows how to rescue those who are godly while continueing to punish the unrighteous...this is especially true of those who .... despise authority.
The Lord is so good, that He tries to pound in to our hard heads that HE will take care of those who are ungodly as well as taking care of those who are His children. We so often forget that He addresses this on many occasions and in many different ways.
(the full verses are just above) anybody?
So to summerize this very important section, the way I understand it, there we have the first (and last)order of things. Representing and expressing God comes full circle from the old Adam to the new Adam thru blood, water and fire. I hope everybody's not sic of hearing me yet ( it'll come) but I really wanted to say all that. *puts soapbox away* I completely agree and don't don't put the soapbox away, you say very thought provoking things!! I'm so enjoying this study
Study 6 Gen 8:20-9:29
God's Covenant With Noah
The Sons of Noah
1) What did Noah's alter and burnt offerings signify? To what would they correspond in our lives today? Cf. Rom. 12:1; Heb. 13:15-16.
Ourselves, our bodies, for Him to use and work through.....and also the sacrifices of praise and Thanksgiving that we offer up to Him.
2)Reflect on Noah's position after the deluge. In what ways did God encourage him? Noah and his family were now completely alone on the earth. It had to have been very scary in many ways. He encouraged him by making a covenant with him, by giving him a sign to remember that covenant, that He would never again wipe out the earth, and he blessed Noah greatly by multiplying his family, his things.
3) What makes human life supremely precious? Each and every human life was created by God., no exception. What kind of penalty is here ordained for the murderer?Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
4) What can we learn here concerning the place and manner of covenent making? Making a covenant with God is a very serious manner and is not something that should ever be done lightly. Can you think of other visible tokens and pledges which seal covenents? Covenant of circumcision with Abraham and the covenant at Mount Sinai with Israel,
Note. 9:13
This doesn't imply that the rainbow was now seen for the first time, but that God now made it a token of His covenent of promise to Noah.
It's great that your so passionate about the Lord, Sennaria, I can't imagine a better passtime. I think that in the Day of the Lord, after the rapture and before the supper, while He's giving out rewards, He's going to sit us all down and sort out the tangled gospel so that the truths that we all hold will no longer be seen as thru cloudy glass but all will become clear. And I think He has distributed all of the truth to everyone so none of it will ever be forgotten. Thank you for sharing.
