I've got to say, I wouldn't be too confident in any survey where there is a need to adjust the results, whatever the reasons are. Short of attaching your respondents to a polygraph machine, I'd be pretty weary of the results.

All surveys do that. It's called weighting. HarrisInteractive has probably one of the more in-depth protocols as it compares its online panelists to other samples.

I'm not saying they don't (although I can't see simplistic surveys doing this), but it seems to me a limitation, or flaw would be more accurate, in these sort of questionnaires.

We have oil deposits off the coast on New Jersey that might make the middle east worry. The problem is we also have people here who rather than regulate it's drilling, cry about the possibility of spills, etc...

No you don't, not commercial ones anyway, unless you are confusing oil with gas hydrates this is a load of hooey. If you are confusing oil with gas hydrates I suggest to learn what they are and how difficult and dangerous they would be to utilise.

Studies find that Conservative support blowing up more random strangers to 'save' them from 'dictators'. Studies find they don't say anything about the massive, genocidal terror bombings perpetrated by the English and Americans during WW2 against the Germans and Japanese.

Politics is mass-murder and mass-robbery, people. Stop arguing over stupid incidental details like whether Puerto Ricans do more drugs and worry about the apocalyptic death machine that's destroying your civilization.

In other news, conservatives are more likely to change around studies to make conservatives look better without providing the necessary background information regarding the methologies of the studies. They are also more likely to suggest that studies based on Americans represent the whole world.

Tell me your thoughts.

"Liberals" and "conservatives" are not uniform groups. They are very large and diverse, and for many their political orientation may mean little to them, and so I don't know what is to be gained from these sorts of statistics.

Now that Ive had my joke agaisnt such a stupid poll, I'd like to remind you that of course liberals would be immoral in the conservative mind. Any poll constructed with conservative values will make liberals seem evil. It works both ways. In doesnt mean either is more 'immoral' than the other, it means this disagree which shouldve been bloody obvious.

fail.

Exactly. It's very easy to judge 'them' from the outside. It happens on both sides, and I must admit I find myself inadvertently doing it to conservatives. But if we're trying to be objective I think we should realise how our biases affect us.

You're pretty short sited aren't you. When the oil starts to run low and indeed runs out, the American military machine will just be a heap of junk. I know it, they know, it seems you're the only one who doesn't know it. That's why America are in the middle east, and it has nothing to do with freeing Iraq. It's about having some control over the oil. If the American government really wanted to some good, they would have poured the money ($1trillion is it?) into more urgent causes... Africa for instance, not Iraq or Afghanistan.

Edit: When the oil runs out, you wont see America or any western countries going anywhere near the middle east. Until that is, when someone invents a way of powering cars and planes off sand. Then the cycle will start off all over again.

This statement makes me think

Do you want the American Amry and military to shut down?

If you actually read the statistics Iraq isn't even in the Top 10 producers of oil. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0922041.html

In fact the US produces more oil than Iraq does. and is number 3 in the top ten producers(Iraq is number 14). Saudia Arabia is number 1 and we are not at war with them. Russia is 2nd largest..

The whole left right thing is idiotic. It bears no relation to actual political orientation or general philosophy

The problem is that most liberals support things that are against Christian ethics and morality. Any honest christian would question a liberal because liberal ideas are so at odds with christian doctrine. Liberal Christian is an oxymoron, they are like oil and water.

Generosity and compassion are conservative principles? Where?

maybe when the republicans freed the african slaves from slavery(the democrats didn't do anything to free the slaves you realize)? When Reagan stopped communism in Russia? their concern for family values and children? their wanting to stop unborn children being killed everyday? their great involvement in the formation of what America is today, not taxing the hell out of its citizens the way democrats do.

The republicans were founded on anti-slavery and produced one of the greatest presidents ever, Abraham Lincoln.

If you honestly look at history, you will see that it really is the republicans who have shown the most honor and defense of our country and its peoples, and they developed american freedom as it is today. Liberalism didn't really even get a hold until around 1932-1970.

Funny thing about oil and water. Add the right detergent and they mix about as well and water and water.

Anyways, a liberal Christian is not a oxymoron, it just depends upon how they combine there beliefs. I know a good number of oxymoronic conservative Christains. Why do I say they are oxymoronic is that so many of them aren't able to defend themselves without violating such basics like the law of contradiction. At the same time, this doesn't make me think that being a conservative Christian is an oxymoron by default.

Then again, I think I have about as many liberal viewpoints as I do conservative... don't really even know which side I am on (I choose neither).

liberalism supports things that are at opposite spectrum of christian morality. You can't mix wine with dirt. If you add the dirt it all turns bad and polluted. liberalism is the death of chivalry.

Good thing I don't drink wine...

Certain liberal views are cause chivalry to die, others don't. Chivalry isn't an all around good practice. Some will appreciate the kind gestures of it, others will fill insulted and put down by it. A dangerous balancing act it may be to mix Chivalry with the lack there of, but it can be pulled of without hurting anyone's feelings.

But all this talk of liberal and conservative values makes me feel like i am dealing with a three star programmer (I don't really expect anyone to get that reference... but thing of instead of giving someone clear instructions, you give instructions which have references to references to references of instructions). How about instead we start talking actuals here. Give me some of the liberal values you are so against and I will reply with my take, be in liberal, conservative, or uniqueish.

I don't think he knows what liberalism is; he thinks he's labeled it correctly, but he doesn't know what it is.....

also, we're one of the world's biggest consumers of oil; oil runs out; its not renewable. unless our military learns how to fly jets from hydrogen, it will be a scrap of junk in the next fifty-sixty years.

Has anyone mentioned the 'Ted Haggard' effect? Let me rephrase that as the 'Ted Haggard' law which reads: That which you condemn the most, is secretly coveted by your own mind. This law is approprietly named after ted haggard. For those who dont know his name; he is the evangelical preacher who hired male prostitutes with whom he smoked meth with. I wish I were making that up. My point is that individuals, mostly conservatives, put the morality in inmorality and then they themselvs fall victim to their own condemnations.

What do you think Iraqs production figures were before the US trashed their oil production infrastructure in 2 wars and starved their economy of investment for over a decade Nimrod?

That's why the US is there, their reserves have been under utilised for well over a decade, lots of lovely oil still in the ground

You don't appear to understand what political liberalism is either, read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism

You would appear to cleave to many of the tenets of Liberalism, you are a liberal:

Liberalism refers to a broad array of related ideas and theories of government that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal.
