• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I cant stop my alcohol habit. I have been born again since 1979. I was drinking then and I'm drinking now. I have a military background which doesn't help as it was a drinking culture. Am I an alcoholic? not really as i don't drink through the day and don't want it, just in the late evening. Do I have to drink in the late evening? Well,.. I suppose not really, but I just enjoy it so much. However i am always looking for ways to stop but always fail. Please don't flame me with judgments, its hard enough trying to stop. I am just looking for others who have struggled and overcome for inspiration, thanks in advance for any help, Michael..

You may be binge drinking at night if you get drunk every night... but personally I have a high tolerance and don't even know when I'm drunk. I have to drink 6 shots of scotch to feel much. I don't ever see myself being "sober" as in never drinking again, but I want it to be infrequent because drinking every day is awful for your liver and causes cancer. Its hard because alcohol is the only thing that helps my depression and anxiety and I get no hangovers. But I'm at a point where I have to start taking care of my body... sorry this isn't much help but I know how you feel

I understand how you feel Michael. I'm also an alcoholic for almost 8 years, I already attend some AA meetings, but still I can't resist not to drink. I tried to find some rehabilitation center that can help me through this, but I’m having a hard time to find a good one. Well, yesterday while I’m walking around the street, someone gave me a flyer about this recovery centers rehabilitation, I don’t know if it’s just a coincident since I’m looking for a recovery center or it’s just really God way for me to change. I will try to visit it tomorrow, hopefully this is the one that I’m looking for. Just always pray Michael, God is always with us.
