Argument fail ...Some people, like Dr. Carson, use the programs for the poor and then later decry their use by future generations. Were it not for welfare programs, Dr. Carson would be the smartest janitor in the local hospital.
Typical White version of "Negro History" as taught in the 1960's minus Booker T. Washington. Having gone to a "Black" college for a couple of years I learned more in the first month about Black History than anywhere else.Argument fail ...
Yes yes, "White version" of history, rather than just history. Ad hominem fallacy.Typical White version of "Negro History" as taught in the 1960's minus Booker T. Washington. Having gone to a "Black" college for a couple of years I learned more in the first month about Black History than anywhere else.
Carson is a rather modest person in dismeanor.Somehow citing the few exceptional climbers excuses the discrimination of the many. I was speaking specifically about Ben Carson, one who could learn a great deal from Carver about humility.
Wait, what? That was it? Your response to the responses to you was to just quote a few words of the Declaration of Independence? My initial response to this is posted in the comments section.

Absolutely.Yeah, Carson needs you to lecture him.

Sounds good to me.Seems that because a handful of people overcame deplorable conditions, it justifies inflicting them on the rest. What say we apply that logic to "Christian Persecution" and see how the Religious Right fare without special protection?

EDIT: It is still there, just buried in over a hundred new comments. Someone turned the thread into a Global Warming debate.
I was poor for a good part of my childhood. I lived in a housing project for awhile and got free gifts from charities at Christmas, etc. I also got lots of financial aid for college and even attended a less expensive "Historic Black College" after integration. A little-known fact is that desegregation meant that white students started going to Black colleges (located in the blue states below).

Or spent much of his earnings paying off a couple hundred thousand dollars in school loans. Were it not for welfare programs, Dr. Carson would be the smartest janitor in the local hospital.
Carson's biggest problem is his referral of patients to abortion providers.
It is interesting how conservatives are leaning. As I have read more of Carson's responses, he tends to fire off something that gets a sound bite, then backpeddles to a more moderate stance. One problem, likely his undoing, is that he is a moderate Republican in most respects that has been promoted as a conservative.According to the WP, he's also done research using tissue from aborted fetuses. And though he's personally opposed to abortion, he doesn't seem to support criminalization. (Which I think is the same as Donald Trump's position.) He also may be a little soft on the 2nd Amendment. He's apparently suggested he could support a ban on semi-automatic weapons in urban areas. (As a pediatric neurosurgeon, I'm sure that treating head-shot kids has influenced his views.) He doesn't appear to toe the standard conservative line 100%. And neither does Trump. So it's quite intriguing that these two are leading in polls of Republican voters.

May the LORD bless each with a good career, and much job satisfaction. Not sure it will be a given, seeing what is soon to become of our Medical System in this country. I just am hoping the best for them.... My white son and his Asian wife are still thousands in debt in school loans, they are both in a medical field.
My three white daughters were also thousands in debt, two have paid off those debts and the third is still working on it.
You must be proud of them. Now, how are your Black and Hispanic children doing?Or spent much of his earnings paying off a couple hundred thousand dollars in school loans.

I am not offended, your point is well taken. You must be proud of them. Now, how are your Black and Hispanic children doing?
