  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'll keep trying all these relaxing things. I don't have a pet, but my husband has a fuzzy head because I shaved it I'll stroke that.

So did dh find it relaxing for his head to be shaved?

Some women find it relaxing also; if not completely, then maybe with sidecuts or an undercut, etc.

It could be destressing and getting energy out, but it is not engaging the parasympathetic, which has more to do with entering into a calm state. People might find them boring, but they are calming, and even people with a lot of energy and are adventure oriented need to get calm sometimes.

I guess it depends on what our goal is. I'd typically be more interested in de-stressing and not worry too much which process my body is activating. I think there's a difference between "calm" and "at peace", also.

I find our body's response to music fascinating.

Music stimulates all brain regions that are considered the core of emotional processing. - See more at: http://jonlieffmd.com/blog/music-st...-specific-brain-circuits#sthash.vldoAzgH.dpuf

Usually that's my goal when I have stress---not to just alleviate the stress, but process the situation and my emotions related to it.

It seems to depend on the variety of music being listened to.....but music seems to be a great way to decrease stress and actually process the situations that cause us the stress (possibly bringing about a resolution, instead of just temporarily putting it aside):

Music can decrease stress by decreasing cortisol in the HPA system. But, the opposite can occur with harsh stressful sounds. - See more at: http://jonlieffmd.com/blog/music-st...-specific-brain-circuits#sthash.vldoAzgH.dpuf
