  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Strange dog behavior

I came across a resident stray dog in our neighborhood. As soon as I did, it began barking at and chasing away all the other men standing around. And then the dog went to me and sat at my side quietly!

The strangest thing is that this dog is quite familiar with the men it chased away but barely familiar with me. I never gave it food nor petted it.

This dog just "claimed" you. You should feel honored.

.....i don't believe in "accidental encounterings".....is there a possibility that you can keep this dog?

Unfortunately not anymore. Dont have time for a pet these days. I used to have a dog several years ago when I had plenty of time for a pet.

The stray dog is well taken cared of anyway. My neighbors living close to his hangout spots hand him food everyday and he looks quite healthy.

That's good to hear.

Why do you think he immediately took so well to you?

:) I think of a few more or less serious possibilities >

Maybe he's the only one who smells like fast food from the dog's favorite source.

Maybe Time Werx pets a dog which the others do not pet, and the dog can smell that one.

And maybe he doesn't smoke, but the other men do. He can smell the difference.

LOL! I can relate.....i was walking to work one day, and at first, i didn't notice, but a small dog had been keeping step with me. When i stopped and looked down, this l'il dog stopped too, as if waiting for me to continue. So i did. This delightful li'l dog had walked all the way to work with me. I would've kept this delightful li'l dog if i didn't have to go in to work.

From my perspective this li'l dog had "claimed" me. :)

I think dogs can tell if one is dog friendly or not. My officemate and I were walking from work one time and this dog started following us around for a long distance. In one of my vacations, a dog at an island that I went to for the first time kept getting close to me. I took a selfie with the dog. Lol.

First time I heard about dog "claiming" someone!

He's a great dog. I would have adopted him if I had the time and space!

It's almost like they "choose" you. Most of my cats have done the same thing with me. They "claimed" or chose me.
