I heard on the radio he's claiming that it's an atheist/pagan conspiracy to rate his movie poorly.

I don't know anyone who wants to see it, and I'm a Christian as are most of my family and many of my friends and co-workers. Perhaps the movie just sucks?

"Kirk is enjoying the annual Christmas party extravaganza thrown by his sister until he realizes he needs to help out Christian, his brother-in-law who has a bad case of the bah-humbugs. Kirk's fresh look at Christmas provides Christian the chance to see Christ is where He has always been: at the center of our Christmas celebrations and traditions."

As a holiday, I've always felt that Christmas was not the best holiday to celebrate Christ. Christmas was more about presents and Santa.

In my family, Easter was the holiday in which we did a better job of celebrating Christ. Growing up, going to Church on Easter Sunday was beyond mandatory as well as Easter Dinner.

Thanksgiving would be second in terms of celebrating Christ. Thanksgiving is the biggest deal holiday in my family. Everyone from around the country makes it home. We hold hands and every single person lists all the things they are grateful to god for. And we end that ceremony with group prayer and a toast.

Christmas would be third. We would normally have a X'mas dinner with a prayer. But to be truthful, X'mas was more about just giving each other presents :)

So a movie about X'mas being about Christ seems a bit disingenuous to me. Which I guess is kinda ironic because "technically" Christmas is the official day we celebrate Christ, but in reality it has been commercialized to be all about presents...

Same here. I see him as a guy who enjoys attention and feeling like he's oh-so hip and cool and relevant. I think he just doesn't know how to deal with not being famous anymore.

I think most Christians ignore the war on Christmas hype these days. For most people it is more about family and friends and sharing the wealth of the year.

Is it just me, or is there less "War on Christmas" whining this year? I'm sure Fox News still talks about it, but I'm certainly not hearing much about it this year.

Personal experience only: As a Christian, as a frequent user of social media, and as someone with some family members who are very active in the "atheist movement", I find more non-Christians bring up the subject of the "war on Christmas" than Christians that do. I think it's just because every year we get that push of sensationalized articles on the internet news web pages, and Fox news, running the sky is falling (war on Christmas) stories. The atheists I know like to wave those stories around and call them out as sensationalized, and the Christians I know simply don't pay attention to the stories.

Christmas is a big deal to a lot of people, and I don't personally know a single Christian that has claimed to have been impacted by the war on Christmas.

Focus on the Family put out a naughty/nice bulletin, but otherwise there hasn't been much.

Yeah, I've never had anyone try to "war on Christmas" with me personally. I once heard some random comment at work that we weren't supposed to have anything with the word "Christmas" on it, etc, but nobody ever paid any attention to it. The only "warring" I ever heard about is on the news, so I agree that people tend to take any small incident they can find and blow it out of proportion. I'll enjoy Christmas as I have every year.

I measure the "war on Christmas" only in terms of what businesses allow the Salvation Army to set up kettles at their doors and which don't. I volunteer for that every year.

About ten years ago, there was a year that almost nobody except Walmart permitted it, but that's loosened up considerably since then.

This is rated 1.5 out of 10 and I think the minimum rating is 1 (not sure on that).

Next is a whole pack at 1.8.

Huge gap. No way this is non or anti Christians stuffing the ballot box. With 10 on offer it is far too easy to stuff in the other direction. But it looks like even the production crew either won't rate it or won't give more than 4 or 5.

Seems less to me also. Much less.

Perhaps the subtle pressure of Christians who are fed up with the whining is finally having an impact.

I have no desire to see it, but I overheard my co-worker talking about having taken the kids in her church group to see it. She said she had to apologize to them.

I am always leery of ANY Christian theatrical release. None of them get it right.

Closest was The Passion of the Christ. And even that had its share of flaws.

I stay away from anything religious from Kirk Cameron, too. I loved him in Growing Pains, had posters of him in my room when I was 16 but his theology is flawed.

I thought "Fireproof" was tolerable, if you were of a mind to watch a religious-oriented movie just because it was religious-oriented. But generally, speaking, deliberately religious productions are normally pretty cheesy, whether live-acted or animated and even if they contain a big name or two.

I'm not sure why that must be so.

I didn't know there was a war on X'mas until a few years ago when I stumbled onto Fox News and they told me about how I was being persecuted :p

I found out that there was a war on Christmas on this Christian forum. I've never celebrated Jesus Bday on Christmas either. I went to a church that celebrated it on years eve, a few years ago. But in the past I was never taught to celebrate it at all. I feel if people want to celebrate Jesus Bday on Christmas, then celebrate it. If they don't, then don't celebrate Jesus Bday. It's that easy.

I thought he was pretty quit, until the Christmas movie, so I don't think he seeking attention for his self. I just think he watches a lot Fox news and that channel gets crazy about issues. So he decided to make a movie about the war on Christmas.
