• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have been hitting a lot of AA meetings lately, because I am in a high stress period of my life. August/September is when I return to my teaching job. The job is not as stressful as it once was, but the transition period is stressful, especially as we are also in contract negotiations. Add to that, I broke my toe three weeks ago, and have been unable to work my second job, which bites into my finances horribly.

Then, Mom is in town for a birthday week, hers being one of them. If you were here in June, I had a total meltdown from a run-in with her. She is speaking to me now, but no mention of the incident, and she can hold a grudge.

So, I have been making a lot more meetings. I hit one on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I hope to get to treatment group today, and hopefully receive some sort of discharge letter to give to my primary therapist as he has concerns about me ending treatment.

I will have my 90 days of sobriety in a week. Till then, I am protecting myself with my stepwork and meetings. I fear relapsing as I did before, which was always preceded by a couple of weeks without meetings.

I appreciate the support here, as I am not one to take things like that for granted.

Hugs,
Trish

I am so happy for you, and will be praying for you. I just got two years, one day at a time.

Thanks a bunch and congratulations...I once had six years, and another time had eight. This most recent relapse was almost two years long, and really showed me just how insidious this disease is.

Praise God we have today.

Girl your listening to your inner recovery voice.... I always know when I need to stock up, when the committee is on overload. Its funny how it calms down after getting out of my head for awhile...^_^^_^ Yep, these are common words of recovery but they are so very true.

My committee is made up of crazy squirrels that run around on a wheel, like hamsters. The start of a school year is detail overload, and physically exhausting. In addition to arranging my room, and hanging posters, I had to wash every desk and table, because the custodians did not do it. I also have to move every piece of furniture in my room. Then, there is the paperwork, and staff developments I must sit through.

Not to mention, I have serious ADD, and get distracted easily.

Then, when I get home, I must clean my apartment and take my dog to the park for his run.

I need a Calgon bath....LOL

I can relate..The hamster run..LOL now I will always think of that.

I am praying for you Trish, but I am happy you are up and running and keeping busy. It was so hard for you when you were stuck on a couch with a broken foot, I think it was.

im not a pro, but what would happen if you were the chairperson at your local meetings 3 or 4 times a week. just a ponder, i would think it would keep you on your game and not feel like a relapse was coming. you dont need alcohol, but for a lot of us, it feels like we do based on our past and how we feel when you we drink.
just a thought, but i think it may be good for you.

I won't be able to sign up for a chairing commitment till I get my 90 days next week. After that, I have to see when the next chairing commitment is open for. I would only sign up for one a week, when the time comes. Some meetings have a one year requirement to chair. It depends on the meeting.

Thanks for the suggestion.
