  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I went to two Steubenville Wests in Tuscon, Arizona. It was an awesome experience of fellowship with teens that have a love for Jesus. It was a fun time. Do you know Paul George? He used to be our youth group's youth minister and he was an awesome man. I think that he lives in Atlanta now as the director of Lifeteen's southeast hub.

Stuebenville is a conference that tours around the US (and maybe Canada, don't remember) that is directed towards hs teens (although anyone older is more than welcome to come!) to give them a chance to get closer to Christ over a weekend (Fri, Sat, and Sun). It's sponsored by the Fransican University of Stuebenville. It's also very high-energy and a lot of amazing stuff has gone on at the conferences (although I've seen many people, myself included after my first one, leave feeling on fire for God and then let the fire seep out of them slowly). If you have a chance to chaperone, I would say go for it!

I haven't been to a Steubenville conference (yet)... but I highly recommend Youth 2000's... they rock... a lot.. and the friars are like the coolest people... I just got to go to a youth 2000 a few weeks ago with my best friend who has been to like 4... and it was AMAZING...

here's a link to some pictures from it, sorry some are so large, i never took the time to resize them:
here...

not all are retreat pictures as you can see from the thumbnails... but we had a great time, and it's a very moving experience. ;)

The closest steubie for me would be steubie east.. like 6 hours away.. maybe sometime i'll go. :p

I went last year to the Steubenville Attleboro MA conference as a youth minister. My kids loved it and so did I. It was an awesome experience. My husband had the priveldge of taking the kids this past summer and he loved it as well. I highly recommend it to any teen. In fact, the one musician Martin Doman is the music minister at my church.
