  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had to work last night but my wife had to go to Easter Vigil because she was sponsoring a friend of ours who was coming into the Church. I asked her how it went and she told me it went great, there were about 35 people at our parish this year who received their sacraments. Two in particular were a husband and wife, the husband was baptized Catholic but that's all and the wife wasn't previously religious - so a candidate and a catechumen. Last year I may have posted about an altar server at my parish who passed away after a bad dirt bike accident. Well, this husband and wife were his parents. The departed's name was Sean, and he was a convert himself. Not only that, but apparently while he was going through RCIA his sisters became interested in the faith and they converted back then as well.

I got real Saint Thérèse vibes with the way that he basically converted his whole family. I'm praying for his intercession for my family (parents, sisters, brother-in-law) because I've been praying for their conversion since I came in. Maybe a cult will develop for Sean's cause and miraculous conversions could be attributed to his intercession (I hope).

But a special prayer for his parents, the other 33 who were baptized and/or confirmed at my parish, and the thousands upon thousands across the country and the world who entered the Church last night! It's good to focus on this growth when we're normally so browbeaten by the reports of losses and apostasy.

He is risen! Allelujah! Allelujah!

Wow! I remember you posting about Sean and the dirt bike accident. :praying: I’m so glad you posted. Such a hopeful thing to read and obviously he planted the seed and his loved ones were fertile ground. ❤️ A Blessed Easter to you and your family. We got 50 days till Pentecost to enjoy the season and contemplate. :praying:
