CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you referring to the tracks on aja? If you dig instrumentals I'd recommend checking out king of the world on countdown to ecstasy. Incredible bass guitar work.

I might know the lyrics of a song. But I recently concluded that I rarely get any "meaning" from any lyrics unless I read them. Until I read lyrics, they are just music, like listening to a piano.
I think being in high school while Elton John was popular had somehting to do with it. There was no point in trying to figure out what he was singing. It was mostly nonsense syllables.
Steely Dan had very clear lyrics. But I still put no meaning to the song stories.

SD lyrics can be very cryptic. There's been a lot of debate among fans what the stories actually are in the first place

I sort of know what you mean by knowing the lyrics but only as part of the music. It's hard to explain what that means. I can know every word with the instrumental but without it hardly know any of the lyrics at all let alone what they are trying to convey.
I have to read them more like reading a poem and most I don't bother with doing that, I really don't care most of the time, I just love the instrumentals or not.
