Let us remember that it was not the entire trinity that died but only Jesus, one member of the Trinity. Let's also remember that Jesus rose from the dead after three days and never died again. You could say that by putting on human flesh Jesus put on the cloak of mortality and even then he had power over death. He allowed death to take him for He "gave up his Spirit."

Yes the Isrealites may not have understood it but it gave them the concept that in order to remove sins a sacrifice was needed. Also Isaiah in his prophecies used the symbol of a lamb for Jesus which was the best animal for sacrifices.

I am attempting to master.:)

I think this ultimately comes down to the question "How much of Jesus' divine nature did he keep and how much human nature did he obtain while on earth?" Such a question is almost unanswerable although we have some guidelines.

I disagree with the notion that Jesus had no power except through God. Satan knew Jesus could turn the stones into bread if he wanted to but by doing so he would commit sin.

I am unsure what I am.

I am probably "moderate", or something. I sort of stray on the bounds of not being a seventh day adventist at all... in some regards.

I believe firmly that scriptually one can only come to the conclusion in the state of the dead being a sleep.

This is a stance that I have long debated in the teens section, along with another "specialty" (;)) which is hell. I also firmly believe that scripturally one can only say that hell is not eternal.

I don't care to debate this either, but you wanted our points of view

I'm not sure what the Hebrew's were shown by God concerning the nature of man shouldn't be taken the same today. Some say, well, we know more about the 'spirit' and 'soul' and the cognitive function of the body.

The implication is 'the Hebrews didn't know what they were talking about when they said that man was a wholistic being, but we know better and man has an immortal soul'

The Hebrews and later Jews were surrounded with 'life after death' philosophies. The Egyptians and Babylonians held the belief of immediate life after death, then the Greeks after them. Not unlike the New Agers and Christian dualists we see today. They were familiar with the concept.

And yet we see that the nature of man was described by them using the words 'nephesh' and 'pnuema', both of which denote wholism and not immortality or dualism in any fashion.

Then we have the scriptures which support this in context through and through both in OT and NT.

At what point in time do we not simply take the scriptures for what they are? Inspired and infallible truths given to God's people all throughout history?
