After a few days of busy-ness I'm back!

Allie: 3 "very" little ones!
I remember when I had a five year old and a 3 year old and a babe in arms: boy those days were challenging. I'm in a really nice stage with them right now cause my oldest girl will be 11 in a week, and my 2nd girl is 9.5 and the youngest, he's six. Now at least they are old enough to be a bit "self supportive" So much of what I do revolves around them, its easy to understand why you can get distracted from your routine!

lots of moms feel a loss of "self" when kids are little.

I found my enjoyment of physical activity changed after I had kids. For one: I now enjoyed mowing the lawn because it gave me one thing to concentrate on, where I wouldn't be distracted. I enjoyed focusing attention (because I never got to otherwise! Being pulled from pillar to post to save this trouble and that trouble and Oh No, the gallon of milk is ALL over the floor!) Walking in a straight line, watching the clippings of the grass all of a sudden became enjoyable!

Thats one reason I think I can stick to it this time Allie. Because I've increased my capacity to enjoy being focused.

I think we do have learned responses. Think about "pain" in childbirth. When a mom is stressed - her pain increases. Its a hard pain to describe. I think fear itself brings more of an awareness of pain. When a nurse comes by and comforts mom and gives her something to focus on, helps her breathe, no the pain doesn't go away, but her learned response of shrieking does. Then her response becomes something more productive. And the whole reason is because of a goal! There is a child at the other end waiting to be set free. On one hand I agree that I probably won't do something unless I really enjoy it.

However, I kick and pull against that because I do lots of things that I don't enjoy, because I have to, and have done lots of things I haven't enjoyed so much because I have had to. How many people here love to change diapers! Raise your hands! Experienced mom changed 3,000 here! But I enjoy the afterwards: My kid is clean and does not have a diaper rash!!! So as a mom or a dad, we pour ourself out for our children. The instant we think of doing something for our self: well we can feel TIRED and don't WANNA.

Now here's our chance to do something for ourselves! I'm about the worst planner in the world, but I'm coming to realize that nothing gets accomplished without a plan. If I want to accomplish nothing, I can just do what I'm doing now!!! And you know what? That's not what I want! I want an end result. I want to be slim and fit enough to enjoy myself exerting myself in the Grand Canyon. I've got a goal at the end thats driving me. I've got to keep that goal in front of me, or its hard to push myself out the door. There's always another basket of laundry waiting.

Paul pressed for the mark, of the high calling of Jesus Christ. He had a GOAL, and a worthy one. I think he must have visualized it and wanted it so badly. Every moment to glorify Him. Glorify Him in your body....its okay to enjoy your body working together, doing what it was created to do!
**********
So talking about what I've been doing as far as exercise, I got out and walked every day. In my family, this week is the busiest week of the year, so my priorities will be spending time at the church fair booth, doing the required shifts and working at my job. I probably won't get online all that much.

I found a swim partner!! So now I have someone real for accountability. She's another mom about in the same condition I am who used to love swimming so this ought to be good. I praise God for that! She also wants to start coming back to church. She had bad church experiences as a kid, being forced to go, but now feels drawn back, especially with a child of her own growing older.

It just shows ya how kids can be the greatest motivation of all. They are to me. I don't want my kids to grow up mimicing my "lazy" behavior, either spiritually or physically.

Do you really love working out allieisme or are my just trying to convince yourself you enjoy it? You are going to have to find something you truely enjoy doing exercise wise if your going to have life long success. As soon as I hear something talking about having difficulties being "motivated" the battle is pretty much already lost. Have you ever talked/trained with a national caliber/professional athlete? Take cycling for instance... something I am familiar with. I often hear people ask: "How do those pros stay MOTIVATED to cycling/train 8 plus hours a day year around?!!" They can do it because they literally enjoy it more then ANY of sport/activity they are aware of, period. It can be pouring rain, +5 degrees Celcius with hurricane winds and they'll have a stupid grin on their face as they head out the door for a 4 hour training ride... and guess what? They still have the same grin on when they come in the door 4 hours later soaked and freezing! :D You need to find something you enjoy doing enough that "motivation" isn't even a factor allieisme. Honestly ... you won't have long term success without that. The world is full of un-used gym membership cards sitting in drawers that remain untouched after the first week of "motivation" wears off.

Now... if you'll excuse me I have to go riding... I hear its suppose to thunderstorm this afternoon! WEEEEeeee! ;)

Umm.. unfortunately I was doing great, now not so good.. My husband has been working horrible hours with a ton of over time, and the gym I go to has a child care center in it, but they never have room for all 3 of my girls. So its hard to go when thats the case. and its too darn hot to walk during the day, and I'm not at all about to walk at night, by myself.

I have a 5 1/2 a 3 1/2 and 11 mo old all girls.. You have a free zoo? My gosh, I had to pay $19 bucks to get in. All kids 3 and up are $5 and I was $9
For my wife and I to take our two children to the Zoo here will be 50 bucks. :/ Were going next Friday, weather and work schedules permitting.

Anyhow, back to the thread...

Lets hear from the guys!!! I know its embarassing for us guys to admit we need to take the love handles off, but hey, we do. Me included.

Im 5'7" tall, and well, lets say that my wife loves to call me a big bear of a man. LoL So I know I need to lose some weight too. the excercise isnt my problem, its the foods. My family is a Scottish and German mix, we LOVE heavy foods, and love to cook and eat it ALL. LoL So any advice for me? I was thinking of going veggie like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I remember that God blessed them for not touching any strong food or drink. For just 10 days they ate nothing but vegetables and drank water, and God blessed them with stronger minds and stronger bodies than anyone else around them.

Seem like an idea? I do...hehe...

I've come to realize my whole life revolves around food. I work in the food industry so I'm feeding people, serving and come home and feed people here. I'm in the store every day and even dating someone from produce.

SIGH. Free me God!
Going veggie like Shadrach Meshack and Abednego would be a good way to kickstart somethin...
For the last few weeks I've been trying settingcaptivesfree.com for feasting at the Lord's Table, making sure I get my priorities right and my satisfaction from Christ, not Cookies. Having a daily devotional and accountability prayer partner has been really good for me. Its not bossy on can haves and can't have, calling a persons conscience and relationship with the Lord to dictate that. One of the beginning scriptures "Whatsoever you eat or drink, whatever you do, do all to glorify the Lord." really hit home. God really does care what we consume, how much we consume. They have a suggested eating plan: where one day you eat 3 normal meals. Another day you eat half the portions. Another day is liquids. Another day is a fast day. I know my grandpa would always fast on Fridays, its just what he did. I wouldn't start somethin like that unless I thought it was a good Life plan.

Allie: I hope your hubby's work schedule eases up. I asked my ex-mil to watch the kids for an hour or so on Mondays/Tuesdays so I can go swim. (cause I haven't been structured enough to get up early to do that.) However, this week didn't work out so here's looking at next week again.

I remember when I had little ones I would try to put an old Jane Fonda tape into the vcr. The kids enjoyed watching me bounce around. What a LAUGH. I think I disliked exercise too and never stuck with it. I wonder if I still have that tape. Its hilarious: totally retro. I bet its worth somethin on Ebay! ;) Oh, then I had a book called "Callanetics". Ever hear of that one? I think toddler toting should be an olympic sport, don't you? Yeah, and when guys start pushing vacuum cleaners cleaning mega dirt, thats when I'll start watching the olympics.

tee hee: I'm in a quite a mood---I have a headache from tooth problems from last week.
