Loneliness and boredom - with a bit of greed thrown in? The wife works the night shift so no one is home in the evening - I take it, no kids.

I find it hard to see see how cheating would be that tempting, if you have no intention of cheating. Especially if you think God is watching. I don't know... different people in different circumstances might feel different.

If it's a real problem, then it makes sense to avoid it though.

The bar sounds like particular kind of bar - not a place for conversation with friends. Could there be exotic dancers there?

I don't know what I'm suppose to imagine this bar to be like. If there are exotic dancers I wouldn't consider that a normal bar.

I'm just trying to understand the moral problem. :D

From everyone I've known, it seems to be a combination of culture and genes - and opportunity. I think some people cheat and some don't.

He seems to think it is a problem.

Stripper bars are normal for some people, debauched for others. I don't think a neighborhood pub would be considered debauched by any but the teetotalers.

I'm just trying to understand the moral problem. :D
Temptation to be like his friends, if I understand him correctly.

Meh, I don't understand how someone strongly committed to monogamy can cheat. This guy says he cares, so why would he cheat?

That's probably way too simplistic I know, but I don't understand the thinking. There's a long way between temptation and action. I'd think that obvious cheating is a big violation most people's moral code.

He seems to think it is a problem.

Does he? That's what I wasn't sure about.

But strip bars aren't the average by numbers. Well I'm guessing. :p
To each their own.

I wouldn't put it past conservatives to condemn all bars.

Temptation to be like his friends, if I understand him correctly.

I don't get that... where's the God given moral fortitude? :D

Perhaps I'm holding too high a standard... I don't know.

I do consider it a problem. And yes, they will and do try to pull me into their lifestyle. As I try to pull them into mine. They do it because it makes them feel better about their poor choices, and I do it out of a sense of morality. It seems to me Parad that you are trying to justify your lifestyle. Even the sex part you somewhat defended. Maybe not directly but indirectly when I called it a "meat market". Hate to break it to you but I've been to plenty of bars and never to one that wasn't a meat market.

I'm a married man and even if I wasn't fear of disease would play a strong role lol. And lol at the tags. Someone please explain them. But I subscribe to the old chinese proverb "He who would not sin, should not sit at temptation's doorstep".

How do you know they wont try to 'pull you in' because they think you'll have fun, and they think it's okay? Why the attribution of bad intentions?

One shouldn't cheat, of course.

It seems to me Parad that you are trying to justify your lifestyle.

Justify what? What do you think I do? I'm just giving you my moral opinion on these things. It isn't about trying to hide form something I deep down know is wrong. I just disagree with you.

Even the sex part you somewhat defended.

Yeah, I don't think loveless sex is necessarily wrong.

Maybe not directly but indirectly when I called it a "meat market". Hate to break it to you but I've been to plenty of bars and never to one that wasn't a meat market.

Well I've given my reasons for thinking that to be a strange way of phrasing it. To talk about people as just meat seems a bit off.

It's up to you... I'm not trying to tell you what to do with your life. :)

Hi all. I'm starting a new job, and its my kind of job. No real management, no real pressure. You go based on your own sales, each sale is roughly $100k. Somewhere in that area. So you can see that the commissions would be somewhat high. One of the sales people told me that he made $100k last year, and his goal for this year is $200k. The reason I'm saying all this is because I'm trying to convey that its an opportunity that is very difficult to turn down. And I need the money.

Have you seen any money yet? Have they asked you pay for anything yet? If you haven't seen any money and you have to pay for stuff I would leave, smells like a scam.

As far as the behavor, it is not unusal for good salesmen to behave this way, it is tippical behaover as far as I have seen. If that doesn't appeal to you, leave. It will not get any better and they will continue to presure you becuase they think this is the way you become successful.

Well they do think its fun and they do think its ok. Its just that I don't. Necessarily. A lot of the stuff they do is fun. Snowboarding and skydiving and stuff like that.

Justify what? What do you think I do? I'm just giving you my moral opinion on these things. It isn't about trying to hide form something I deep down know is wrong. I just disagree with you.

I'm not sure what it is you do, but there have been some implications in your posts that I've already highlighted.

I'm not really referring to people that way, its just the way I feel when I go in there. I mean lets face it, that's what they're all about. I have been single before. There is a reason most churches will advise against spending time in bars. Women probably go there for the same reason as men, but some of them probably do go there just to socialize and have a good time. But that's just the way it usually ends up. People get to drinking and one thing leads to another, etc etc.

Yes during this time I've made a couple of sales and made 30% commission. Roofers are far and wide, already known as scammers. That's just the reputation they have, just like used car dealers. My boss is extremely against any kind of theft, so I'm assuming that he would never be part of any kind of scam.

Fair enough... I'm just saying that if I defend something, it doesn't necessarily mean I do it myself.

The way it usually ends up? I don't usually end up 'with' a random guy whenever I go out when I'm single. I don't even know if that happens with the majority of people out. I sort of doubt it, but that's a complete guess.

Even if it were all about sex, I wouldn't call sex just meat.
