I disagree. There is a level of emotional content present in an argument, and an expectation of reasoning present in a debate. I've never heard of an argument between two toddlers described as a debate...and with good reason.

By Episode Five I did in fact mean Episode 5 of the first trilogy. And how dare you call my Star Wars overrated do I need to get my Sith Lords???

Lol I'm well aware of what you meant by episode 5, and yes...overrated. Lucas is just another western director in a long line of western directors to rip-off Japanese film. Instead of a western, he set it in space...and he's been riding the back of this blatant robbery for years.

Okay Ana I’ve got one for ya;

I believe to like someone is more important than to love them in a marriage. The difference? I believe to like someone means you enjoy their company, you connect, you get along with each other.
I believe love is an emotional attachment that you have with a person. I believe the best scenario would be to like and love your partner, but if you could only have one, I believe like is more important than love.

Doesn't sound like you've ever really been in love Ken...doesn't sound that way to me. Love IMO is much much stronger than liking someone.

For me at least, it changes all the values one has. Its a bit difficult to argue something this subjective though.

I disagree! I believe love is different than liking someone. I have been in love, but I realize not everybody is going to react to love the way I react to love. I’ve seen dysfunctional people in love and are abusive to each other, fight all the time and obviously don’t like each other. For me it is impossible to love someone under these conditions, but not everybody is like me.
Then I’ve seen people who get along with each other, they have the best times when they are around each other, but they don’t have the emotional connection to love each other. I don’t believe love is stronger than like, I believe it is different than like.

For me at least, it changes all the values one has.
Emotional connections can cause one to change their values; that isn’t always good though.
Its a bit difficult to argue something this subjective though.

I thought you were looking for an argument! It may be difficult; but you weren’t looking for softballs were you?

It's without basis though... at least an objective one. Im telling you coke tastes better than Pepsi...you're saying the opposite.

When I say love is stronger... it's because what I experience as love is stronger. I've only felt it with one person, and I seriously doubt everyone gets to experience what I do as love. I think most will go their whole lives and never feel it. Those people who you speak about don't...and from the way you describe it, you don't either. I thought I had experienced love before I did...and I was wrong. It's simply not the same thing.

As far as which is better for a marriage to work, I think it can be objective.

When I say love is stronger... it's because what I experience as love is stronger.
No! This conversation is not about which is stronger of course love is stronger! With love emotions are involved. I'm talking which is better for a marriage or exclusive relationship; assuming the only choices are love but not like; or like but not love. Believe it or not, it is possible to be in love with someone but not like them, and it is also possible to like someone but not be in love with them.

First of all; you should never assume you know my experiences based upon the questions I am asking for this particular conversation.
Second; I don't need to experience what you've experienced in order for me to experience love; and you don't need to experience what I've experienced in order for you to experience love. It's a personal thing; but it is still love.

Well, that's what it comes down to isn't it? Personal experiences...

I can do horrible, horrible things to people I like...and I have. Things I couldn't do to the one I love. Likewise...love allows me to do things that like could never. My marriage wouldn't exist if I only liked my wife. She would be dead.

So your argument... from my personal experience... is null and void.

Star Wars is the best And episode 7 will be better than 5

I doubt it, nothing beats Empire Strikes Back.

The best what? The best at being overrated?

And you're mistaken sir, any episode without Jar Jar Binks and his slightly drunken Jamaican accent is not worthy of my viewing. Clearly you missed the boat on that one.

I must be one of the rare individuals that loves Jar Jar Binks. Every Star Wars needs a cute character or two. A pitty he votes "Yes" on Proposition Palpatine.

Actually, I agree with Grim totally....

It's just that as a self imposed rule of the thread I'm taking positions contrary to whatever positions a poster claims. It doesn't matter if I believe them or not. Most big star wars fans hate episode 1 and JJB.

Skyward sword was an awful Zelda game plagued by horrible graphics, mechanics that just made the game tedious. Breakable weapons (A BAT BROKE MY STEEL SHIELD ITS A BAT!) a annoying robot that's also a ghost that gives you statistics you dont care about. A end boss you dont feel threatened by and lackluster dungeons.

I'm actually not that into SW, and none of my posts about Star Wars were even serious lol. I was just making stuff up and goading Jar Jar is annoying though :/

I can understand doing horrible things to people you do not like, but why to people that you actually like?

Suppose you loved the person, but did not like them?

Likewise...love allows me to do things that like could never.
Would this love allow you to do those things if you didn't like them?

I get a feeling if you loved your wife, but did not like her, and you two never got along; always fighting and hurting each other; you would understand where I am getting at.

"I can understand doing horrible things to people you do not like, but why to people that you actually like?"

Oh...desire. Without getting too specific, I'd say that I simply liked what I was doing to them more than I liked them.

"Suppose you loved the person, but did not like them? "

I can't really imagine this scenario...and I apologize if it sounds like I'm ducking the question...but I can't imagine loving someone (loving as in the love I have for my wife) and not liking them. I just can't work that situation out in my mind. I can certainly like someone and not love them...but I cannot feel the love I have for my wife for someone and not like them. Any questions where you want me to assume this situation I'm going to be unable to answer.

"Would your marriage exist if you didn't like her?"

Again, I think you're trying to draw a distinction I can't seem to make. I wouldn't have married my wife if I didn't love her, and since I love her I like her...so, in a way, no? I think an important distinction would be that I cannot leave my wife (as in divorce or abandon her) because of the love I have for her...but there are many people I've known and liked that I've cut out of my life entirely for various reasons.
