In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many of us grew up being bombarded with Star Wars this, Star Wars that. The original Star Wars that released back in 1977 was the most innovative movie ever released with the best special effects of the time. I remember thinking, where did parts 1 - 3 go? :) When they decided to come out with parts 1, 2 and 3. Most people (baby boomers) were elated and flocked to go see Meet Joe Black just so they could see the trailer to Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace.

Which of parts 4 - 6 was your favorite movie?
Which of 1 and 2 was your favorite?
Do you think that part 3 will be good?
Do you think parts 1 - 3 are (will be) more popular than the Lord of the Rings? How about parts 4 - 6?

Be blessed!

I like Star Wars alot it was my favorite series until the Lord Of The Rings. The Empire Strikes Back was the best out of the Old trilogy and so far the best of the whole series. Definately Episode 2 was the best out of the New Trilogy it seemed to have more of the old Star Wars feel to it than Episode 1. As for Episode 3 I think we are going to be surprised about this film. It is supposed to have lightsaber dueling throughout the whole movie with at least 5 major fights. I cannot wait for the Anakin V. Obi Wan Kenobi battle. This is the one where Kenobi almost kills Anakin in a pit of Lava and now begins the famous black suit of armour.

From the old trilogy, part 2 is by far my favorite. It introduces my favorite character AND location (Yoda and Cloud City). I don't know, Empire Strikes Back just stirs my imagination more than the others.

The new ones, eh. I like them for the role they play, which is letting us see the events leading up to the original trilogy. But did George Lucas completely lose his ability to develop characters, their personality, or write decent dialogue? Episode 1 was kinda slow, but it had to be, it was setting up all this political brew ha ha and all that. Episode II though, ugh. The dialogue was so stilted and stupid that I was laughing half the time, and not at appropriate moments. The love story between Padme and ANakin is so forced that I think a love story I wrote in first grade could be substitued and not many people would notice. And I think George Lucas just lost any sense of what it funny or clever (or he just benefitted in the origninal trilogy by working with great actors like Harrison Ford and Sir Alec Guiness). Was I the only one who cringed at C3PO's lines in the big coliseum fight? "This is such a drag" " I'm beside myself" - please. What happened to the clever writing??

I certainly hope they have higher standards for part three. There are many things I want to see, but if it gets any worse than Episode II I will probably just walk out.:D

And I don't think Star Wars can compare to Lord of the Rings, for amny reasons (this is coming from a big Star Wars fan too). LotR just has such a rich and coherent story, and through three movies, hasn't had any of the slip ups normally associated with fantasy movies (remember the ewoks from Return of the Jedi? Yuck!).

Out of the original trilogy, Empire Strikes Back is my favorite...there was just so much going on, and some really great lines. :)

Of the newer two, Attack of the Clones was my favorite....all those battle scenes. Could've done without the Anakin/Amidala stuff...though Amidala is my favorite character still (obviously ;) ). But the battles were worth it. :)

Well... MrCozmo already knows what I think of these movies... but for the sheer joy of posting anyways... I wish they'd release the last one and let them die a slow miserable death in some dusty vault never to be remembered.

But that'll never happen... so for those of you who do like it, I hope this last one is all you hoped for!

Return of the Jedi - Too many burping muppets
RotJ was okay, but Boba Fett's death really brought the movie down for me!
Then Lucas had the gal to come back to his death scene in SE and add a burping sarlac. How dare you Lucaaaaaaaas!
I suppose my opinion doesn't matter considering I like Ewoks the movie!

stars wars is awesome. Best movie series ever, imo. lotr is ok, but the books are much better. i liked ep. 1 a lot better than ep 2. the only cool thing about ep. 2 was Yoda kicking dooku's butt!! But, i really like ep. 6. I really like the final lightsaber show down between Luke and Vader. And all those ewoks are cool too! and ep. 3 better be a good, strong link. Cus if its not..i'm just gonna have a hissy fit!

Empire Strikes Back is the best so far. However, Attack of The Clones was close.

However, was I the only one who did not by the Queen telling Anakin not to interested in her, (during the scene in front of the fire place) when she is all dressed to impress?

Please! What a tease! Then, when she thinks they are going to die, tells him how much she loves him??

If that had been me, I would have said, "Well, you sure picked a great time to tell me you love me! Thanks a bunch, you royal pain in the butt! Sheesh! Here I am, about to die on some planet I shouldn't even be on, and you tell me this?!"

Or something like that. Anyway, I hope part three pulls them all together, or the first three will have ruined the rest of the story.

Star Wars is one of the most over hyped film series in the universe! Its simply a cheap marketing strategy used by big cheese Hollywood execs who want to generate money not just from their nerdy fans but also from the blockbuster audience. Star Wars is a film genre in itself and its a perfect example of how much blockbuster films have come to dominate the mainstream film industry. Just the name is enough to attract audiences the world over.

my favorite is Empire Strikes Back, second favorite is A New Hope (aka the original movie).

The prequels are OK, but pale in comparison to the OT. The Lord of the Rings movies are what the SW prequels should have been, in terms of telling a good story, and also having the effects support the story instead of being the 'main attraction'.

The original three are all great. I can't pick a favorite.

But after seeing what George Lucas did in remastering Star Wars/ A New Hope, someone should've taken his camera away. Oh, wait, I mean his blue screen and computer. He doesn't really do any filming anymore, does he? Really, are we to believe that Greedo missed Han Solo with his blaster from three feet away? And he didn't just miss Han, he was waaaaaaaay off.

Lucas' insistence on bringing every character from episodes IV-VI into episodes I-III is also pretty annoying.

Jar-Jar. The Disneyfication of Star Wars. I have never felt such anger while watching a film as I have when Jar-Jar is on the screen. I cannot for the life of me imagine what item hit George Lucas on the head so hard that he thought including Jamaican Jar-Jar was a good idea. A piano? A Volkswagen Beetle? A steer? I just don't know.

And how in the world was Amidala attracted to that creep? There is no redeeming quality to Anakin. Ladies, would you be attracted to this angry kid leering at you and throwing tantrums? Amidala should not be attracted to Anakin. It is beyond believability. She should be attracted to me.
