There was a time that the office of the presidency carried with it a little dignity and expectation though, that typically would exceed that of a key-note speaker.
Those on the left expect more from Sarah Palin than they do of President Obama though. The Tonight Show, Between the Two Ferns, Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, American Idol are very good 'intellectual' fits actually, for the kind of message that
Obama has to sell, and that is the venue from which he chooses to deliver it to his audience on the left.
Rather, the message of the left is all farce, from the top on down. Even this righteous indignation here against Sarah Palin for rhyming with Seuss is farce. There is nothing serious about the criticism, and this thread is as serious as the left is about anything.
From the top on down, it is a message fit for the Colbert Report, and more and more that is the media from which it is delivered.
Sarcasm and mocking derision are what the left recognizes as intellectual content. There is never an argument for their values or even against the values of their opponents, because the only value that motivates the left any more is more free stuff.
