  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When Jesus said be like little children, he meant to be trusting, loving, and humble -

Not to be spoiled brats, always wanting his favors and gifts, especially when you are not particularly promised them.

This is by no means meant to be personal, but it is a truth.

GregChant,

Your tag line reads "
We should consider those moments spent before the Blessed Sacrament as the happiest of our lives. - Saint John Vianney "

I'm glad I saw that.... Funny how we can see the most coincidental things like this. Because i just returned from visiting the exposed Eucharistic adoration and then Benediction...

I don't think it's being a spoilt brat. If I had a dozen roses then whined about it then that would be a spoiled brat.

I just hear so many people get them. WHy some and not others? It's just a mystery.
NO it isn’t “I will have mercy on whom I will…” Those in heaven are not obligated to give you anything just because you ask…

As a parent, just because my kids ask me for something, by virtue of them asking, just because they asked, an I supposed to, am I obligated to give to them, just because they asked? NO I am not. I will give to them what is needed and what I understand to be good for them at the time I feel it is good to give to them. And they are just going to have to accept that and not whine about it. It is called a lesson in trust, and maturity. They then have the choice to accept it and learn form it or stay bitter, resentful and whiny, which makes them more selfish, not less which in no way helps them transform from the unholy to the holy.

Try accepting and not complaining and see if you don't get somewhere.

I accepted it years ago and went on my merry way and it got me nowhere.

I'm just curious as to why some get them the first time they pray, and others don't and some have gotten them on various occasions.

And would you deny your children health if it were within your power to ease their ills and calm their fears?

I think you should read the book of Job. You might be able to find the answers to many of your questions there.

I've read Job. That has been suggested to me before on here. God took everything away from Job to prove a point to Satan. Job suffered so God could prove a point to the evil of all evils then in the end God gave Job apparently more than what he had in the first place.
It didn't change the fact that Satan won in getting God to hurt one of His kids to prove a point.

It would be the same as if a friend of yours told you your kids only Love you because you're kind to them.
If you broke their arms and they still Loved you then later on you had the ability to heal them it wouldn't take away the fact you hurt them to prove a point in the first place.

Satan shouldn't even be around anymore God has the power to get rid of him. On the radio today a little boy was molested when his Mother turned away for a moment when she was changing his diaper in public.
Don't tell me this world isn't evil what I want to know is what kind of Parent would let their children live in such a place??

So you disagree with God? Okay. You have accept things real well I see.

I guess you missed the part in Job where God said to him, "Where were YOU when I put the sun in the sky and created the world?" Notice what he said, "Girt you loins and answer me like a man. where-were- you

So? Where were you when God created the world? Your going to tell him how this whole thing needs to be run? Your telling Him he didn’t do it right?

I'm not TELLING, I'm ASKING. I feel others' pain sometimes as deeply as my own. And it's not just me feeling sorry for myself although it's gotten to the point where I do.
I feel sorry for everyone. I worry for others' Souls. I can't see why, if we must be here in this horrible place, that we can't at least have ways to defend ourselves and the innocents and be happy.

Years ago I merrily went along believing things will get better soon. Not long now. Trust in the Lord.

There comes a time when it wears you down. And I've said the "Come to me all you who weary and are burdened and I will give you rest" thing.

Why can't we somehow get rid of all the evil? It's really overwhelming now. It's like putting a micee in a cage full of cats. What hope do the Mice have when the owner has enabled the Cats to claw at the mice?

I wish we were equipped with those guns in Ghostbusters we could just suck up all the bad things and people and give them to God.
But I can't help but feel we shouldn't have to. Why should we have to grovel just for peace and for health and happiness? Does God really believe that we would dessert Him if He got rid of Satan and we didn't "need" to ask Him for anything anymore???

Does a daughter forget her Mother when she goes off and becomes independant?

Doesn't He trust Us to still Love Him and teach our friends and family about Him if He gets rid of Evil?

I don't know what to say to Him if I ever see Him. I would probably be very angry and wonder why such horrendous things are allowed to happen.

It's making me want to exact my own justice on people. How often must we turn the other cheek before we strike back?
Are we really supposed to be showing the lenience we do to criminals?

You miss the point that the happiness of Christ comes from entrusting our entire lives to Him. That we rejoice in EVERYTHING that comes our way- as it is all allowed to happen from God. He sends us whatever we need to perfectly unite our will to His-- and He gives us a lifetime to cling only to Him. The happiness of the Christian in no way means easy living and health-- but rather that we are inseperable from the Cross.

You are seriously confusing the happiness of the world from the peace not of the world, but of Christ....

On the original point of Theresa and being like a child.

Theresa realized that only when she accepted her littleness she was then free and it was the turning point in her life, before that, she admitted she was a brat acting childish. She accepted who she was; just as she was and accepted that God loves her the way she is, a poor sinner and nothing more.

That is what the little way is about- not acting childish, but accepting who we are as we are.

Ok, so why does it say we will be blessed and healthy and so on if we keep His commandments?

And I never Pray for myself I am always praying for others aswell. I know I whine a lot on here but it's out of frustration at not knowing where I am going wrong.

I keep Praying for my will to be united with Gods'.
