I'm taking off back to the US this afternoon. Should be back home (yea, well, the other home) around 8 or so tonight (depending on delays, weather, immigration, customs and lazy cab drivers)...

I am taking 8 days off from work starting tomorrow afternoon and beginning the vacation with a cookout with some of the men from the men's group at St. Innocent. I desperately need to get caught up on my iconographic work and need some time to rest and do things which are nurturing to my soul.

I'm hitting the grill all weekend long as well. I've got some choice steaks from the deli and a bag full of potatoes. What I can't decide on is enjoying the weekend in the pool or at the lake.... of course the lake will be absolutely crowded with holiday vacationers.

An Orthodox Priest was on a train to Los Angeles when he encountered some gang members. Now this group wasn't friendly with anyone wearing black.

You get the picture.

So they close in on this priest. And the gang leader is simply fascinated with the cross that this priest is wearing. Now this was not his gold pectoral cross which he left at home intentionally, but a simple cross. So this priest notices this attraction and tells the gang leader. Would you like this Cross?

The gang leader smiles and says yes.

The priest says: Now listen carefully. I will give it to you with no strings attached, just one favor though. If you accept to wear this cross, then you will allow me to give you a blessing first by bowing your head.

The young man bowed his head and received a blessing from the priest who put the cross around the man's neck.

This is truly blessing and loving our enemy.

Of course, I like to saute it with SOY VAY Island Teriyaki which is available from your local Trader Joe's. Yum.

Hey, this is vegetarian talk, remember it's still Friday here.

Cut up asparagus with onions, garlic, carrots, snow peas and bell peppers. Then topped off with some SOY VAY for a tangy ginger, garlic, and pineapple teriyaki sauce (got to get some more).
