  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So not only did I have a speaking test today, but with a Syrian who it turns it... is Orthodox! :holy:

It came about in the part where I had to discuss my hobbies (hobbies? Who has time for hobbies! :p) and I mentioned that I go to a parish that's an hour and a half from here because they worship in... English!
(That and because the community is far away enough that I don't get a million questions about being military which I appreciate - but that's for the next speaking test)

And at the end when it got to directions, she says in Arabic, "You said earlier that you go to an Orthodox church on Sundays. How do you get there from here?"
HOOYAH!

A quick hello before I disappear again. Life is full, Church is great, kids are growing up :).
Hopefully I might have time occasionally to catch up with old friends here. Nice to still see some familiar faces :)

Oh, wow. How is life down under?

We are battling fires in the West now that we are in midsummer heat.

I'll say it here - I'm running away for a few days .

This short trip had been planned for a good few weeks so I can actually celebrate Dormition :) Our temporary priest can't come up to us , the local Russian Priest is not in Town then, SO I'm heading elsewhere and coming back on the Sunday night.

After the week I've had [ there were another 2 deaths !! ], I am in need of some of what our priest terms 'spiritual refreshment' so that's just what I'm heading away for , some good Liturgy , a chance to unburden myself of a lot of 'stuff' Confession and then some relaxation and time with a good friend.

See you all next week
