Very sad / happy weekend for Seraphima and me.

We had to put down our poor old cat as he had bad lymphoma, and had no more zest for life. He was 9 years old. His name was Y@T.

We buried him yesterday in the front garden. But we got a beautiful new kitten yesterday too. Keshka will take a while to settle in as the new owner of a golden Labrador:), but I'm quite sure she'll manage.

I went to DL this morning and did confession and and Communion. It was very painful as my leg is still not well, but by the Grace of God I managed.

The the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation H. E. Mr. S. Ivanov and other Russian Govt ministers were at our Vespers on Monday this week. (story here)

Pity about our terrible traffic jams and my sick leg!:) I was actually at home in bed on Monday.

Yes, Spring break is upon us.

However, here in Los Angeles, the different jurisdictions all decided to have Spring Break on different days so as not to show partiality to Christians.

Spring Break #1 is observed by most California State Universities from March 17 to March 23.

Spring Break #2 is observed by the Los Angeles Community College District from March 23 to March 31
(March 31 is Chavez Day)

Spring Break #3 is observed by other school districts from March 31 to April 5.

I pity the poor parents who have their children in different schools and who therefore get no rest.

This is educational stupidity of the worst kind.

That stinks. All I know is that Spring Break coincides with Holy Week for me, which makes me a happy camper. My school gives off that week because it's passover, and we have a very large jewish student body.

Our district falls on LA's spring break number three.

My quick-money-making scheme for the week will be to buy things at Goodwill and then sell them on ebay!

Photini, it is great to see you! I am thinking of getting dog #4!
Hi Michael, it's good to see you too! Dog #4 eh? Pets are so much fun. My kitty "Jones" helped me cope through a rough patch last year. It seemed lately that he was getting bored though....so we went to the shelter and brought home a friend for him. "Samwise". Named after Frodo's loyal friend in the LOTR.

Was very nice to meet you this afternoon! As it was to finally meet Nutroll!
It was nice for you to get to meet me, wasn't it? ;) It was great how well all us "vendors" got along. I got the impression that most people would have been pleased to spend less time talking to other vendors and more time talking to customers, but it was a lot more fun than I planned on having this weekend.

Yeah, dog #4. I ALMOST adopted a doberman puppy from a shelter Friday night. She was such an adorable dog, but I really, really want an English Bulldog. I have already decided if I get one I am naming him Panzer.

I didn't try it yet. I got home around 1 in the morning and then had to hang all my icons back up because my priest is coming to bless my house today (which ought to be fun because I have had no time to clean, and have really let the house become a mess because I have been so busy lately). I need to go buy some stuff at the store today so that I can offer Fr. John something to eat while he's here... So when I'm out I'll have to pick up some tortilla chips or something. Then I have to pretend that beer is just liquid bread and try the beer. Or I could wait until Annunciation...

The beer I gave you is basically liquid pumpernickle bread!

Speaking of hanging icons, I have to do that this morning and then continue working on cleaning my basement seeing as my new table saw is coming this friday.

I heard I might get the honor to meet the original nutroll in a few weeks... :D

Hello everyone :)

Dress construction again. This time it's green (I just realised today as I was cutting it that it was poetic to be cutting an emerald green dress on March 17th), and the same style as the purple one I made months ago (and am currently wearing). It's going well, but I'm tired, so I had to stop for the night.

I've been stitching the border to an icon of St Nicholas...the border is the easy part. But Father seems to have faith in me so God-willing it'll turn out alright :)

And it's the last day (please God!!) of a record heatwave. 15 days over 95*F (most, like today, closer to 104*). Tomorrow is supposed to be 86*F, much more bearable. Ugh. Not fun, and it's dry heat.

So now I'm settled down with a cool breeze late at night, with some psalms to stitch, and a comfy couch.
