I read your reply in the previous thread - thank you for commenting. You said that it would be a joke gone bad as both parties need to be on the same wavelength (that's the jist of what you said, right?). So, then if the person making the comments says its a joke, should the other person be obliged to see it as a joke even if they interpret it otherwise?

If you mean it sounds like an insult, but the teller says it's a joke, then it is nothing but a thinly disguised insult! The point of a joke is usually to make light of a difficult situation/person. So someone/thing is always the but of the joke. If the joke is racist/ethnocentric, it would not be Christlike to repeat it to anyone.

Well, without getting specific, what if it didn't sound like an obvious insult but an intuitive person is able to "read between the lines" so to speak and see something differently. [Additional info: a person makes a statement they are sensitive about a particular subject and then this alleged joke is then stated.]

Am I starting to confuse you ?

The joke theme. Forgive me as I am in PDA mode and don't have access to all tools here. But no, I read you loud and clear! Unfortunatly there are folks about that hold certain 'differing opinions' to us, but rather than be open and voice the opinion, they hide behind a pretence to tow the accepted line, and would make light of or fun of something/ someone they disaprove of or dislike and attribute it to a 'joke'. I know some 'friends' who are just like that, and I think I know what you're getting at.
If at all possible, avoid such friends like the Plague, otherwise be careful of what you discuss when they are present.
