All the religion stuff is just about how you want to attempt to communicate with that creative force but I just can't fathom there not being a creator for creation. It just doesn't make sense to me. It's like having an effect with no cause What can I say? I'm a sheep!

Ow, okay. So basically, it is an argument from incredulity.

I really hate to see myself say things like this but......

Videos like the ones in this thread make me wonder if the Atheists are somewhat on track in that we are just a compilation of cells and synapses and dendrites or whatever they are called, firing away in our grey matter and we have no soul. Just a set o responses determined by our experiences, values, and genetic structure.

I really hate thinking that way because the thought of a human soul is beautiful to me. These videos seem to show it is our brains that make us who we are evidenced by the two separate natures of our brains desiring different things and like it was said one being a theist and one an atheist. There are essentially two consciousnesses inside us and we are only scratching the surface about what our brains are capable of and really do for us. Where does the soul live? Sorry to go on and on but it tugs at the question of the nature of our very existence.

I still will always believe in God just because my logic tells me everything that has been created need a creator and to assign an all powerful deity to it just answers the question for me. Still though why are we here? Do we have a soul or just a complex brain?

I better get to confession
Actually there are Christians who hold the view that the soul is the person himself and not some invisible entity encased in a material body. So it isn't just an atheist standpoint. For those Christians when a person dies the soul dies since they are the soul. Their hope is to wait for a resurrection from the dead as promised in the Bible. So for such Christians the duel nature of our brain doesn't pose the problem that it might for those who hold the invisible soul in material bodies concept.

Yes, people who promote intelligent design and other political attempts to sneak creationism into schools.
Maybe because they have a common ground of agreement the distinction between the twain can become blurred in the atheist mind?

Here is a helpful link:

University of Wisconsin historian of science Ronald Numbers is critical of intelligent design, yet according to the Associated Press, he "agrees the creationist label is inaccurate when it comes to the ID movement." Why, then, do some Darwinists keep trying to identify ID with creationism? According to Numbers, it is because they think such claims are "the easiest way to discredit intelligent design." (2) In other words, the charge that intelligent design is "creationism" is a rhetorical strategy on the part of those who wish to delegitimize design theory without actually addressing the merits of its case.

Given the fact-based nature of proceedings like that, it doesn't surprise me that it is tough to find anyone who can handle it.
There is NOTHING factual about abiogenesis and yet you swallow that shpiel hook line and sinker.

Your mind reading skills are terrible.

And nice try at changing the subject. I wasn't talking about abiogenesis. I was observing how badly ID proponents do at presenting their case when there are actually penalties for lying. I can understand why this might make you uncomfortable but making up stuff about people as a response isn't the most honest approach.

What does this have to do with the Split Brain Phenomenon?
