Some additional knowledge regarding 'Prophetesses'. One may be empowered to prophesy without being a Scriptural prophet (or 'prophetess').
Prophetess- A woman who has received a testimony of Jesus and enjoys the spirit of revelation. A prophetess does not hold the priesthood or its keys. See Revelations 2:18-29 (Wicked Prophetess Jezebel and "what some call the deep things of Satan" the terms and labels are spiritual allusions to represent things contrary to God's/Christ's will, according to His Word, also His support for those who reject this teaching)
Though only a few women in the scriptures are called prophetesses, many prophesied, such as Rebekah, Hannah, Elisabeth, and Mary.
Miriam was called a prophetess- Exodus 15:20
Deborah was called a prophetess- Judges 4:4
Huldah was called a prophetess- 2 Kings 22:14 (2 Chronicles 34:22)
Anna was called a prophetess- Luke 2:36
However, all of Christ's 12 disciples/apostles were in fact Men.
"When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Then He admonished the disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Christ.” Matthew 16:13-20
"You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” 1 Peter 2:9-10
Priesthood- The power and authority of God, to accomplish God's will (Romans 12:1-2).
