When people say works are not needed for salvation, it's not entirely true (James 2:14-26). It's a half-truth (LIE) because good works lead us into spiritual maturity, where the devil no longer has access to claim anything in our Spirit life. There is a big difference between an inspirational/encouraging message, and a message with deep and intricate understanding of how the kingdom works. A believer may be positionally holy by believing in Jesus, but progressive holiness is what keeps us secure in that faith by accepting who we are made to be, and what we carry. When the Word talks about falling away, it's not playing games and pretending like these passages of Truth don't exist, do not make them magically disappear. The Word is forever settled in Heaven (Psalm 119:89). (1 Timothy 4:1-5, 2 Peter 2, Hebrews 6:4-8, Jude, Matthew 7:13-27, Hebrews 10:26-39, John 12:44-50, Hebrews 12).
It is impossible for a bonafide (the elect) believer (Romans 8:28-30, Ephesians 1:3-11, Matthew 24:24) to lose their salvation, but for the unstable and untaught, they will began to seek other gods that they have not known (Matthew 25:1-13), if they are not led into repentance and complete metanoia. The conduct and lifestyle of the unrepentant nullifies their claim of faith in Christ/God alone. There is no room for multiple gods! Saying "God loves you!" is true, but the spiritually infant in Christ need to be able to explain and exemplify this in a way that makes sense, and is not false to the Truth. Some of the young believers have the needed zeal, but they are severely lacking in discipline and instruction.
"So, beloved, since you are looking forward to these things, be diligent and make every effort to be found by Him [at His return] spotless and blameless, in peace [that is, inwardly calm with a sense of spiritual well-being and confidence, having lived a life of obedience to Him]. And consider the patience of our Lord [His delay in judging and avenging wrongs] as salvation [that is, allowing time for more to be saved]; just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given to him [by God], speaking about these things as he does in all of his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable [who have fallen into error] twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. Therefore, [let me warn you] beloved, knowing these things beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men [who distort doctrine] and fall from your own steadfastness [of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith], but grow [spiritually mature] in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory (honor, majesty, splendor), both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:14-18
