Dear Guys.

My name is JThree. Right now I'm looking into information on "spiritual oppression?"
I've heard it used by different people for different things. Someone might say it's a person under conviction getting defensive. Someone else say it might be an individual browbeating a person for any spiritual failing. What definitions have you heard?

Thank you

I don't know that I've ever heard the phrase, to be honest. But when I hear it, I think of a man standing by a river, watching a person come up from the water, and the person is smiling as they exit the water. The man stops them and says "Did you just accept Christ as Saviour?" and the person replies with a smile, "I trust Christ to bring me home" and the person replies, "It doesn't work like that; you have to follow the rules or you go to hell." And the person's smile fades and they say "Really?" and the person replies "Yeah. You have to follow the rules, and if you can't, then your faith is in vain, see? Then you'll burn forever and God hates you." The person is left staring off in shock. "Yeah, that's what you have to do; follow the rules or you can't go home." Then he reaches behind himself and gets some iron shackles and clasps them onto the person and points, "Now go over there and meet with one of my associates; he'll teach you how to be a good Christian who followed the rules because if you don't then your hope is in vain. Christ won't save you by Himself, you have to do your part, too; see?" and he ushers the down-trodden person toward the brick-factories saying, "There's no straw to make the bricks, but you'll need to fulfill your work as if there were!"
