Good comment concerning open vision, PJ. I mean open vision when I write about Revelation of John. I began to use word "revelation" here because I began to write about spirit of revelation and because message of John is called Revelation. At WOF forum, maybe, it is better to speak about the Spirit of wisdom and open vision.

As to the gifts of the Holy Spirit I'd like to mention that it is difficult to describe open vision in the terms of the Holy Spirit gifts - many spiritual gifts work instantaneously in open vision. However, I'd like to mention that for Spirit of wisdom and revelation is better to use classification of Isa 11:2 : Spirit of the Lord, Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
Spirit of counsel and power, Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

We can find example of the infilling of the spirit of wisdom in the Old Testament. This example is not the same as infilling of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation presented in the Revelation of John because of the difference between Old Testament and New Testament. However this example can help to understand important features of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him (Dt34:9). This event is described in Nu 27:18. The Lord said to Moses to take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit and lay his hands on him. Joshua is characterized as the man with spirit before the infilling of the spirit of wisdom. This Old Testament example can symbolize, that christian who is filled of the spirit of wisdom and revelation must already have spiritual gifts from God. It should be mentioned that infilling of the spirit of wisdom occured only in the life of the leader of the congregation, Joshua, but not whole congregation. After the infilling of the spirit of wisdom Joshua son of Nun met Commander of the Lord's Army (Jos.5:13-15,6:2-5) near Jericho and receive message which includes some features of Revelation of John (for example, seven trumphets). Joshua transmitted this message to
the congregation. The message reveals the supernatural way to get the victory not by the power of men but by the Power of God.

Your probably right. We can be "sticklers" (ha! ha!) when it comes to word usage.

I believe that the open vision itself would be considered the gift of discerning of spirits. It most likely would include a word of wisdom, world of knowledge, etc...

I agree, there are many types of wisdom. What John saw concerning the 7 churches would be thru the gift of the word of wisdom (deals with future).
The spirit of wisdom however is imparted thru the word of God or divine deposit as with Solomon and is always available at your own will. Through this "anointing" of wisdom he knew how to discover the true mother of the child.

I think revelation is when you think about how it applies to you. If the church was more in the Word there would be a lot more revelation. I am trying get a forum set up here to go through the One Year Bible so we could get more revelation. Check it out it is under the suggest new forums.

It is interesting Ephesians 1:18 has been spoken of here as several years ago as a result of much prayer I began to see something about Revelation that was not previously taught by Rhema or anywhere else as far as I could see. So I approached Kenneth Hagin on the matter and after some consideration He responded encouraging me to seek the Lord further as he had found what I was saying very interesting. Nearly 10 years down the track now the Lord is impressing upon me to put all the details together but I am still trying to understand some aspects.
One interesting thing that just recently fell into place was the understanding of the "little book" and why it was both "like honey " and "bitter" .
I am constantly seeking the Lord on this issue, believe me.
