Ah, but it is relevant. The Georgia General Assembly has the power to dissolve Fulton County. A rather extreme way to move a trial, and unlikely, but maybe more likely that the Brownian motion in your cup of coffee making it vibrate in time with Waltzing Matilda. Just as the Georgia General Assembly could have disincorporated Ludowici, but didn't do so.

The rest is a trip down memory lane and politics. And while I'm mildly surprised the name Lester Maddox isn't familiar, I suppose he doesn't ring a bell with younger folks. Given how Maddox got into politics, he was rather notorious.
I remember Lester Maddox as one of the more notorious Dixiecrats.

He's the guy who's legal team raised this matter in the first place. Almost like a diversion so he could sneak off without being noticed somehow while everyone's attention is elsewhere. A legal tactic which included his defence complaining that the prosecutor wasn't sufficiently experienced to take the case. Now, that just has to be a first.
Yes, seems odd to complain that your prosecutor is not sufficiently experienced as it sounds like a situation favorable to them.

Yes, seems odd to complain that your prosecutor is not sufficiently experienced as it sounds like a situation favorable to them.

But the issue had to be raised and must be heard because the issues “strike at the heart of fairness in our justice system and, if left unaddressed and unchecked, threaten to taint the entire prosecution of this case, invite error and completely undermine public confidence in any outcome in this proceeding.”
Willis and Wade, the motion contends, “have been engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers.” . . .
The motion said the checks sent to Wade from Fulton County and his subsequent purchase of vacations for Willis could amount to honest services fraud, a federal crime in which a vendor gives kickbacks to an employer. I
Filing alleges ‘improper’ relationship between DA Fani Willis, top Trump prosecutor

If crimes have been committed then they should be prosecuted just like anyone else.

Which is what's happening. Roman has been charged and will be investigated. This sideshow is a really an extraordinarily inept and desperate attempt to have his case thrown out. What they are claiming has zero influence on the charges. And don't you think he deserves to have his time in court to defend himself?

Whatever happens with the prosecutor, that will happen in any case. Roman's attorney has just made a fool of himself by complaining that the prosecution isn't experienced enough to take the case. 'We demand someone better!'

There's clear impropriety. Willis hired someone to prosecute the case who was from private practice, it turns out he lacks qualifications as a prosecutor, and she has a personal relationship with that individual.
Has that been demonstrated yet?
All three of those points show improper conduct on the part of Fani Willis.
If so, improper conduct, yes, but who or what gets disqualified is still an open question.

Meh. Whatever improprieties there may be, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Mr. Trump or Mr. Michael Roman. Roman appears to be acting in cahoots with Wade's soon to be ex-wife (the divorce has been pending for years after Mrs. Wade had an affair allegedly with Wade's best friend.

Is it a crime to have an office affair? Well, dirt is dirt! Whatever works, I guess.

She pays a subordinate an outrageous sum. He pays for her vacation ticket. It's called a "kickback."

How much should a lawyer get paid? (Or is this a law firm, it's not clear from what people have written in this thread.)

For government attorneys in Atlanta, around $100,000 salary. Now Wade had little experience in prosecutions, while John Floyd, who was also paid by Willis, is viewed at Georgia’s top expert on Georgia RICO prosecutions, and Floyd even helped draft the law. It looks like Wade made about one hundred dollars AN HOUR more than Floyd.

Lawyers get paid by the hour, and as you seem to note, Wade is not a government salaried employee, but rather an external "contractor". If Wade demands a higher rate in the public market (ie, he charges his clients more than Floyd), then they couldn't hire him at Floyd's standard rate.

Which the defence has been so keen to claim. It just has to be a first.
Both sides want to win the presidential election. The White House, or Democrat's strategy, is to keep Trump off of the ballot in as many states as possible and stay away from the issues. The more time Trump is tied up in court, the less he gets the issues and facts before the American people. And a conviction on anything before the election (with Democrat judges, DAs, and juries they should be able to convict him of something) would allow the press to go all out with smear tactics. While Trump would get the convictions overturned eventually, on a practical basis that would happen after the election. Getting a new prosecutor would be one less case tying Trump up before the election and one potential less conviction before the election. The fact that an inexperienced prosecutor was paid an exorbitant amount of money, much more than an experienced prosecutor, along with the guy paying for Fani's vacation should be enough of an ethical violation to get replacements, and hopefully that delays the case until after the election. It also gives Trump's attorneys a shot to find out just what the meetings at the White House were about. If Democrats can sweep they can pack the Supreme Court, grant statehood to D.C., Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories, and make illegals citizens, that will mean Democrat control (because they will have more members of Congress), one party rule, for perhaps decades or forever.

Why would someone with little or no experience be able to demand anything from his lover? She's a government employee and has a responsibilty to use taxpayer money judiciously. If she spoke with twenty inexperienced attorneys and they all wanted more money than Wade perhaps she would have a defense. We will see.

someone's really got you wound up in a narrative, and it's not connected to reality.

Prosecutors have to present evidence of a crime to a grand jury. That grand jury decides if charges are issued.

The charges have to survive motions to dismiss. A judge must agree there is sufficient evidence to go to trial on the actual charges made.

If the defendant disagrees with a ruling, they can appeal.

The Fulton County jury found sufficient evidence to indict Trump for conspiracy connected to crimes in Georgia. Nothing else is relevant.

I don't mind answering a question, but let's remember the topic and the points in the article:

Then why quote this (which I was responding to):

and push the thread to a "Dems out to get Trump" narrative?

That seems like a question you should know the answer to before you start making accusations of corruption.

The facts about the money paid, his lack of experience, and that at least part of her vacation was paid for by him have been revealed. Instead of providing an explanation, a defense, she is refusing to step down. I was just trying to come up with possible defenses.

You'd think the prosecutor would be concentrating on winning the case. Maybe he skipped a week in law school when they explained that somewhat basic concept.
