  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wanted to start a post where parents can share special moments that warm you heart about your children.

Yesterday my husband and I heard our daughter singing in the room she shares with her 9 month old brother (we live in a small house). Our daughter is nearly 4 yrs old. Sean was on her bed intently watching her while she took the leg of her lego table and sang into it, "Rejoice in the Lord" and was dancing around. She didn't see us peeping through the door. It was such a tender moment.

What are your tender children's moments?

My elder daughter was barely three years old when my younger daughter was born. My husband brought her to see me and the baby in the hospital. She bent over the babies crib and inspected her solemnly for a moment, and then reached out and gently drew a cross on the baby's forehead.

What a beautiful way to make a new sister's acquaintance!

Here is a conversation that my daughter and I used to have that started back before she started school.

Me: I love you!
Daughter: Me too.
Me: You love you?
Daughter: Yes!
Me and Daughter: (wild laughter, giggles, tickles and hugs)

What is so neat about it is just yesterday I was thinking about it and emailed the conversation to her on the other side of the world where she is a summer missionary in a country that is closed to the gospel. God is so good to give me this memory at a time that made the miles between us seem to evaporate.

Watching my 22 month old son play is always heartwarming. Today he took off his pj shorts and put them on his head, over his face and was running around saying "monster" is his "scary" voice and then everytime he would bump into something and fall down he would laugh hysterically and say "I'm so funny"

My 3 1/2 year old daughter is also a trip and loves to sing. She is really into making up her own songs and I heard her singing the other day "And the Lord, the lord, He is good. And some people just don't understand but He is good". In her preschool's spring program they sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and did hand motions, my daughter sang but was zipping her hands from one side of her body to the other and when I asked her what she was doing she replied "I was being the shooting star mommy" :)

A couple of weeks ago, my family was visiting to celebrate my son's second birthday. In th email one day was a notice that we were losing my son's health insurance in a month.. I was so upset. I was sitting on the couch, crying my eyes out, and my gift from God toddled over, sat on my lap, and took my face in his two hands and just patted my face. Then he reached up and put his fingers on my tears and put my tears on his own face. It was so sweet I cried all over again, as did my mother, my sister, my aunt, and my niece.

My favorite tender moment was last Mother's Day. My whole family was sick, and we couldn't even go to church. we were also broke, so I didn't get any presents or cards and I was so depressed. I was feeling left out and let down. Well, my angel, just having learned to walk, disappeared out of the living room one day. I could hear him giggling, and called him. He came walking in holding the toilet plunger. He was so proud that he had fetched it all by himself. He brought it to me and gave it to me like it was a queen's scepter. That is when I realized the best Mother's Day present is who made me a Mom in the first place.

WOW--what a topic!! Every moment with my 1 year old son has been special.

Since birth I have always sang Jesus Loves Me to him. Even in those late night nursing moments, I sang. He has heard this song several times a day. During his 5th month, when he first starting sitting up, he started rock back and forth when I would sing to him while he was sitting on my lap or on the floor. He was DANCING!! And still to this day he stops what he is doing to dance to JESUS LOVES ME!! What a blessing God has given us and what a joy our children are. Thank you Jesus!

I've taught my 3 year old daughter Anya a little Spanish - not much, but at bedtime the exchange usually goes like this...

Me: Buenas noches, Anya.
Anya: Buenas noches Daddy.
Me: Hasta mañana
Anya: Hasta Anya
Me (smiling): No, that's wrong! Hasta mañana, Anya
Anya: Hasta ANYA Daddy!
Me (laughing): Hasta Anya, darling.
Anya (satisfied): Hasta Anya.
