IMHO, speaking "lovingly" includes speaking respectfully.
And respectfully means truthfully.


IMHO, dogmatically insisting on unsubstantiated, late rumors lacks truth, respect or love. In spite of the sincere intention.


Someone MAY desire to flatter me by telling others that I have a Ph.D. from Harvard. I don't. Thus, such doesn't flatter me, it embarrass me and is disrespectful to the truth (I have a B.S - no jokes please - from the University of California). You INTENTION may be good, but the result is not. My mommie taught me to always ask, "Is it true and is it helpful?" She told me to not spread rumors - even well intentioned ones. And I try not to do that - especially about one whom I love, adore and hold in highest esteem, such as Our Blessed Lady.


That's MY perspective, anyway....

I could not agree more.....If Mary could speak to us now....there is no doubt in my mind that she would ask that we destroy the Graven Images we have made of her unto ourselves.

That we not worship or pray to her....that instead we worship or pray to God...for she is but a fellow servant like us.

I speak to Christ Directly....because he is the only mediator between God and Man, and because what ever is asked in his name is granted.....however I do not put the Lord to the test when I speak to him of anything I need help with.

Why would I need somebody to pray for me ? the master I serve is all powerfull, and was given all authority in Heaven and on Earth by the Father himself.

For who has resisted his intention....

you can "pray" (ask, entreat) of people. There is a major difference between that, and the praying, asking, entreating of the spiritual sense. Or, is worship of God not prayer? Is contrition not prayer? of course it is. It isn't merely "asking."

beyond which, we've been given no instruction to ask anything of those who have died (passed on, moved on, finished the race, whatever term you want to slap on it, I don't care.)

I know the difference

the popular English definition of prayer has evolved, but the dictionary still includes "ask" as one. In my parish, the NT terms are still used (in the Greek); it seems instead that English has failed to expand in accord with the NT

Prayers to the Saints is a Christian practice. Those that do not are just not accepting a Christian practice and have accepted a non-christian innovation.
