  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

hello, im 18 and have been in and out of church since 7 but recently wanted to really live right by god. the most difficult part is dealing with people my age always wanting to get drunk and using pills to get high even teens that attend the church. my question is how do teens on here deal with this? and what do u do in ur spare time? people think abiding by god is boring but i dont think he wants us to be bored but simply live right

Hi there :) Im no longer a teenager, sadly. But I can tell you from exsperience that it is hard. One part of you is wanting to be just like your friends. Telling you its ok thatits normal for teenagers. And that's ok! teh feelings arent wrong. I believe God gave them to us for a reason. The tricky part is still having fun while living a true Godly lifestyle. Mybe invite your friends to church with you, suggest other things you guys can do? be an example to them. If it does'nt work out, then i reccomend finding friends within the church so you wont be tempted.

I'm no longer a teen either. I never found it terribly difficult not letting myself get wild, crazy drunk or do drugs with my friends because its something I've personally decided to never ever not only play around with but I also dont put myself in situations where its going on so I'm never tempted by it. As far as dealing with those who do? When they invite you to, just say no thanks. If theres a party or hang out going on where you know they'll be doing that crap, just say no thanks and go somewhere else or do something else. There is SO SO much more to life, but you have to find other ways to make it exciting, fun, and memorable. Pick up new hobbies, volunteer places, meet new people, make new friends, visit new places. As far as people thinking that life following God is boring? You cant make them change their mind, just work on your own life and find new stuff to do that are fun and glorify God. I think at 18, its a little harder to see it that way, but TRUST me, life only gets better as you get older! ;) Soak up the sun, mate

I was able to find Christian friends who weren't into that through a campus ministry. We were too busy having good, clean fun for that stuff. I will also say that if you are comfortable with yourself not abusing substances, that solves most of the problem right there.

Believe me friend I know about temptation. I cant tell you how many drugs and what not surround my age bracket in Humboldt country, and a liberal arts college. It takes the discipline of a saint at times to back away and just say "No", but I do it......for the most part :p

The desire will always be there, and so will the temptation, but like myself and anyone else will tell you, one can reach a higher state through the holy spirit. I kid you not, discipline yourself and walk with the Lord....when people offer you substances just say NO thanks man.
