  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there anything that can be done with leftover spaghetti? Every time I make it (like last night) I always have a bunch left...and a bunch of sauce left, too. And, you know, you can only reheat it so many times before it really starts to lose it's appeal. ;) Anyone have a recipe that might make better use of my leftovers? Thanks.

Love, Heather

Mix some mozarrella in it, heat it up, and call it lasagna?

Extra sauce will freeze, so if you're just dealing with the noodles (which do not freeze well), just use them as a starch like you would rice or potatoes. Toss the noodles with some butter and fresh parsley and voila! Instant side dish.

You can stir-fry leftover spagetti noodles to make chow mein. In fact, it works better with leftover cold noodles than with fresh hot ones. Make sure they are not too wet. If you rinse them before putting them in the refrigerator, they may still be wet when you take them out the next day. If they feel wet, lay them on a paper towel for about 1/2 hour while you chop the vegetables and prepare the rest of the dish.

You can stir-fry them a little wet, but they definitely should not be dripping. Also, be ready to add more oil as you stir-fry. Starchy foods require more oil for stir-fying than vegetables or meat.

My kids like the sauce stirred through the spagetti so I don't usually have left overs of both, just the one saucy-spagetti dish. I add some grated carrot and / or zuccini, some more grated cheese,(and maybe some crushed garlic) mix in a couple of eggs beaten with a little milk and then put that in a baking tray (lasagne tray). Top with a little grated cheese, bread crumbs or crushed walnuts and bake until firm. It makes a nice pasta/veggie slice which can be eaten hot or cold. Just play around with that idea, there's lots of variations to the theme! Some of the best meals are based on SYB's!

My husband takes the leftovers to work, but if I only have noodles left, I would put butter and pressed garlic and parmesean. He heats it up in the microwave, stirs and enjoys. If it is elbow macaroni (i sometimes make instead of spaghetti noodles), I add milk and american cheese and simmer it until the cheese melts. Macaroni and cheese that is only half as bad for you as the boxed kind.

Here are some recipes for left over spaghetti....

With left over spaghetti...you could make a pasta salad...

2 lg. green peppers
1 lg. onion

Chicken Pasta Salad - Marinated grilled chicken with flavorful pasta tossed with a variety of vegetables and ranch dressing.

Chicken Noodle Recipe -

1 C. Noodles
1 can Mushroom Soup
1 C. Milk
3 Tbsp. Butter
1 can or 1 C. cooked Chicken
Bread Crumbs

Preparation:
Mix soup and milk together in a bowl until blended. Put soup and chicken with noodles and mix; put into buttered casserole. Melt butter; mix in crumbs and spread over casserole. Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

Chicken Spaghetti Bake -

Ingredients:
4 oz. Spaghetti
2 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 C. chopped Onion
1 clove Garlic, minced
3 Tbsp. Flour
1 (16 oz.) can Tomatoes, cut up
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2 C. Milk
1 C. shredded American cheese
2 C. cubed cooked Chicken
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen Green Peas
1/2 C. grated Parmesan Cheese

Preparation:
In a large saucepan cook bacon, onion, and garlic till bacon is crisp. Blend in flour. Add undrained tomatoes, soup, and milk. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Add shredded American cheese; stir until melted. Stir in cooked spaghetti and cubed chicken and thawed peas. Turn into a 2 1/2 quart casserole. Top with Parmesan cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. This is a great way to use left over chicken as well.

Also, left over spaghetti sauce is delicious over french fries...

Hi, I am new here, but I have been blessed with kitchen skills, so it's my pleasure to try and help! Hmm, That is a toughy, off the top of my head, Try a can of chopped clams( washed and drained), some clam juice, a little white wine(optional; but it adds a good flavor!) a bay leaf.

i make baked spaghetti out of leftover spaghetti

i toss noodles, sauce and meat put in cake pan (what ever size needed to fit los) and back put moz cheese on time. You could also layer it like lasagna... if you really want to save and not be wasteful. you could make the baked spaghetti if still to much for family freeze what you can't use. it heats up really good. I do this for my husband makes for a good easy reheat for him

MMMmmmm... Spaghetti Pie

I just take leftover noodles(long- spahgetti, linguini, etc.) or make with fresh ones cooled slightly.
Beat a couple of eggs in a bowl and toss with the noodles, and place in a casserole or pie plate. Top with sauce and bake at about 325 for 20 or so miutes (not an exact science). My favorite but I don't get to make it often with a son that has an egg allergy :(.

I made Spaghetti Pie last night and it was wonderful. I did it a bit differently though. I mixed my noodles with a couple of eggs and some shredded mozzerella, pressed them into a casserole dish. Then heated my sauce through with a little browned gorund beef thrown in and layered that on top of the noodles. Lastly I topped it with the rest of my shredded mozzerella and some parmasean and baked for 30 minutes or so. It was great. Thanks for the idea. :) And those Broccoli Noodles sound yummy...maybe I'll try those next week.
