The issue is this:
My own camera had been in use at the Childrens Home for months. We purchased one for the home also and I took the homes one on business leaving my own on the premises. (I was the Acting Manager) I however forgot to return it immediately, was then off sick and so was accussed of stealing the companies camera and sacked for gross misconduct. My own camera remained on the premises as did many of my other possesions.
The company had originally recieved an annonymous letter with all sorts of lies about me. They followed this up because someone else had raised concerns about me. They then interviewed all the staff, three of whom raised issues. (Out of approximately 10)
It didnt take a genius to see the Annon Letter came from the same person who raised concerns. I was extremly ill from Sept - Nov and have no doubt the period I was in work I was excersising some bad judgement. I also realise since being sacked how far from Jesus I had strayed, so that no doubt affected many things. However, this person was angry because as his superior I had raised serious issues with him. Interstingly the others who made comment were persons whom I also had raised supervisory issues with. As a Manager that is unfortuantely part of my role.
Anyway, all the other things I was originally accussed off such as bullying staff, breach of confidence & trust, falscification of records I totally disproved and they only upheld on the camera issue.
It became obvious throughout the proceedings that the company wanted rid off me. They are a Private Child Care Provider and I could not stand by and watch then lie about the provision costing the client £2,700 per week per child knowing that the company was not providing this. I had gotten them to a viable position with the inspectorate and I became expendable. Particularly during October when I sent several emails to my superiors saying this is wrong. Then Im off sick, then Im suspended on these charges. The only one they could make stick was the camera.
I have had to get on my knees and confess my foolishness. I have asked for forgiveness if I truly hurt people by my actions. I cannot make direct ammends however I also know that to steal one does not leave a surity. That the company were well aware of all the circumstances and did not have to met out this punishment.
I do have a solicitor. The way now is an employment tribunal which can take 6 months to a year to be heard. In the meantime I am unemployable because my references will state,
'Dismissed for Gross Misconduct in respect of theft of the company camera'.
I hope that makes a little more sense now. It is certainly the first time I have chatted on it with out crying.
