Ugh, look, I don't think anyone here buys M rated games for the sake of it being M. And the way I see it, is that if I see a game I like, but it's M, I'm just real careful about what is in it. There is a huge difference for why Halo got a nM rating, and why Grand Theft Auto got an M rating. A lot of times it can be a great game but have just a tad too much blood, or one scene thats a little too gory. And these days, most games are rated M for blood, and in a lot of cases it can be turned off! Go read the thread titled "Does anyone even Care?" and you will see more explanations like this.

Why are games rated? To give some idea of the content. I don't have a problem with playing an M rated game if it's a good game. If you have the maturity to play an M rated game, then enjoy. I do, however think parents who buy GTA for their 13 year old should have their heads examined as they are most likely just buying it because the kid wants it and are being very irresponsible.

I have friends who rented San Andreas for their 12 year old son and sat with him while he played it to determine if they would buy it. After a very short time, they decided it was way inappropriate for him.

^this guy knows his stuff.

Also, somewhat related to what you were saying. About parents not knowing what they get their kids....
I think its ******** (scuse' the language) that parents sue companies and stores over selling M-rated games to kids (and music too). It's all just an excuse for parents to get money and blame the store for the parent's own negligence in monitoring what the kid does.

Sure, it might be annoying if my parents kept telling me the games i played weren't healthy, but i'm not the kind of kid who would be influence by one. The parents who are that uptight too sue over something like that should be doing more to prevent their kid from even wanting stuff like that.

anyway, just makes me mad.
