Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm bi, and I just wanted to know whether or not this was another ticket to eternal damnation. Cause if so, I'm in some deep trouble. And so is my woman.

Are there any denominations that accept homosexuals/bisexuals? Cause if God hates bisexuality, she might just have to change what church she goes to.

And btw, this is a completely honest question. I just want answers for me and my fiancee. kthx.

All sin causes us to be deserving of Hell. Homosexuality (and the Bible makes no distinction between homosexuality and bisexuality) is no exception.

What is her purpose for going to church?

Rather than just leaving because you don't like the message, wouldn't it be a better idea to stop for a moment and consider whether or not the message is true.

I don't think so. Since you are male and your fiancee is presumably female, christianity has nothing against heterosexual marriage.

God does not hate bisexuality. I'd go even further, but then it wouldn't be orthodox. :)

Sooo....

Sin is a "ticket to eternal damnation".
It really doesn't matter what the sin is.

All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's desire.
That is why we need Jesus.

Is homosexuality/Bi-sexuality a sin? Yes.
But that really shouldn't be the focus.

The point is to humble ourselves, admit our failing to meet God's standard, and seek forgiveness.

A good Christian church will accept you. The Bible says we're all sinners and if a church would turn away you, they'll have to turn away all.

I'm always surprised at the people who believe gays will go to Hell. Doesn't the Bible preach that anyone who believes goes to Heaven? Amazing how the tune changes when the sinner is gay.

I would recomend:

United Church of Christ
Episcopalians
ECLA (Luthern)
Presbyterian (PCUSA)
United Methodist Church
Quakers (Religious Society of Friends)

While all but the UCC and the Quakers have official positions against gay marriage, imo, those denominations have been very welcoming of homosexuals. I don't believe the UCC even recognizes homosexuality as a sin and I think the Presbyterians are headed fast that way.

Ah the message of love. God hates you no matter what if you are homosexual, no matter than an omnipotent creater could take it away anytime he wanted to.

God doesn't hate us, He hates sin. That's why the Romans tells us that "God demonstrated His great love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the Ungodly".

To be very picky, even the most aggressive attempts to find condemnation for gays (and/or bis) in the Bible cannot move past a condemnation of gay sex. If you are in a straight relationship, then, they have no basis at all for condemning you.

Indeed, if they were paying attention to the playbook, they'd be cheering and upholding you as an example of how people with horrible scary gay "temptations" can be noble and choose the higher road.

But, as always, the quick opportunity to condemn someone to Hell wins out over, not just other doctrine, but even the doctrine generally presented.

Welcome to CF! I'm afraid that, if you read for comprehension, you're gonna be a bit lonely sometimes. :p

ATC, since you and "your woman" are bisexual, does that mean you both have sex with other people, regardless of the gender?

If so, doesn't that bother you? I mean, in a relationship, I would want someone to be committed to me alone. I wouldn't be able to deal with them having sex with anyone else. Biblically speaking, that is fornication - regardless of any issue/question pertaining to sexual orientation. Furthermore, if you are married, that would be considered adultery. Fornication and adultery are clearly identified as sin in the Bible.

If you do NOT have sex with anyone else, then aside from the issue of pre-marital sex - presuming there is any - I don't understand what difference it makes.

The church is commanded by scripture to discipline those who live in unrepentant sin by removing them from the church. If it was truly a good church, then it's first obligation is to the authority of scripture.

The Bible says we're all sinners and if a church would turn away you, they'll have to turn away all.

Not true. The Bible says that we have all sinned, but it never refers to believers as sinners.

"Sinners" in the Bible always refers to those who are living in unrepentant sin.

I'm always surprised at the people who believe gays will go to Hell.

All sinners go to Hell, unless they repent of their sins and embrace Christ as Lord and Savior.

If you're sick, then would you go to a doctor who would help you to get better, or would you go to a doctor who would just tell you that you aren't really sick?

It's no different with sin.

Going to a church that's not going to tell you the truth about sin or how we can be forgiven doesn't help. It's a place to massage the ego, but what good is that if you still die in your sins and go to Hell?

God hates homosexuality, God gave His son for the homosexual. However, Christ did not die for sinners so that they could keep on in their sin.

What you seem to have missed is that the OP is not talking about any gay sex; he's talking about being bisexual.

In English, the words "heterosexual", "homosexual", and "bisexual" describe, not any action anyone takes, but the set of people for whom a given person is likely to feel sexual or romantic desire.

Most people do not have sex with even a statistically significant fraction of the people they feel desire for.

You have to distinguish between being a person who has desires, and acting on those desires.
