  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm wondering who else here is having the problem I've been having. You go to a church service, and there's just something not right. Or, maybe many things that aren't right. So, you go to another church somewhere else, hoping that you will find that they are doing things to please the Lord. At first, the presence there is awesome. Then, all of a sudden, something happens. What was there at first isn't there any more.

Well, for starters, I'm assuming that you are referring strictly to the Sunday morning worship service. I have found that the presence of the Lord is stronger when the people come with their hearts prepared. Many times there is a sort of struggle in the Spirit when many come late, preoccupied and in a carnal place.

Just ask any worship leader. They will tell you how easy it is to lead God's people into His presence when they come with their hearts and minds fixed on HIM. (Which is our responsibility to do).

Some Sundays just seem to have more annointing present than others.

If you are referring to an ongoing lack of the presence of God, then that is another story.

One of the first things you need to do is ask the Lord where He wants you to attend. When you know for sure that you have heard from Him, then if you don't like a particular service, or a message the Pastor preaches, you won't leave because things aren't necessarily to your liking. God wants us to be FAITHFUL. This means even when things are hard. I was in my last church for 15 years before the Lord brought me a husband and moved me 5 hours away. If I made my decisions about staying every time the leadership did something I didn't like, then I would have left many times. HOWEVER, I always felt the presence of the Lord there!

“For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace..." Isaiah 55:12

Know that if you are attending somewhere where the Lord doesn't want you that He will lead you out in a Spirit of Joy & Peace. Make sure you make it right with the leadership and get their blessing to move on. Just don't leave without saying anything.

Hope all this helps!

Bless you!

Thanks for sharing. The one I've been going to for 3 weeks now has had a powerful anointing. When the pastor speaks, he does so under a very powerful anointing. And, his wife leads worship, also under a very powerful anointing.

However, today, one of the others spoke instead of the pastor. No anointing whatsoever. The whole service was over in 45 minutes. It's a brand new church. Only 5 of us today.

I spent a lot of time in prayer this afternoon for them. The pastor mentioned that he'd have the man speak again some time.

Since I'm new there, I haven't known whether to stay or leave. I'm praying about it still. Maybe God has me there to intercede for them. Only time will tell.

If both the Pastor and his wife operate under a powerful anointing then I think I would stick with it for awhile (of course with the approval of the HS).

Maybe the Pastor is a little insecure and this man who he is letting into the pulpit may be pressuring him to let him "preach".

I think interceding for this new work would be wonderful! You could be exactly what the Lord wants to infuse strength into His work!

Bless you!

It's really good when in a meeting you can feel the annointing of the Lord in a powerful way. I have gone to several churches looking for that something, and all are great, going on with God. But now I am now back in the first church where the Lord met me with His Truth and Presence, and to be honest I did not want to go back. I needed to stop running and settle and be committed to one place and I'm so glad I have.

This church by no means has had an easy time over the years. I'm not at liberty to share details But it went through a time of renewal and then a very difficult time however t he Lord is gracious and we are seeing lives saved and transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit. As I share this I see this has happened yes by God's Grace and Mercy but also the faithfulness of those who stayed and interceeded for the needs within this precious fellowship of Gods People.

Then two weeks ago we had a special time where people were healed and emotionally set free etc etc and we could feel God's Presence. But at times although God's Presence is with us we won't necessarily feel it in the same way. And I'm beginning to believe God wants us to know He is with us even when we can't feel him. I am just learning this and I'm so blessed in doing so.

Could it be the Lord is wanting you to stay to pray and support the pastor and his wife i don't know, but I just wanted to share a little of my story with you,

Karen

Thank you both for sharing. As I prayed much yesterday, a thought came to mind about something similar.

Here in Boise, there was a recall of the mayor a couple of years ago. It had to do with using finances inappropriately. He even went to jail for a short time. Then, a few weeks ago, there was a story in the local Christian newspaper about the new mayor, and that there is a petition out for a recall. This had to do with some things related to the 10 Commandments monument being removed from a local park, and that he apparently had not allowed the issue to go on the ballot.

Thoughts had come to mind -- that we can't keep on recalling mayors, just because we don't like them. Then, it also came to me. I can't keep on changing churches, just because I don't like one of the services, or something like that.

Yes, I am interceding. Perhaps that's why God brought me there. As I have continued to pray, I do believe I'll at least go this next Sunday again. I did talk to the pastor this week about something else, and that was resolved, at least partially.

As one brother said years ago, when I was in another state, "Eventually, we'll run out of churches," or something like that (if we kept changing churches, looking for a better one).

Just to let everyone here know. I was led to just now send an email to the pastor, telling him that I was leaving, and why.

I have prayed intensely about this situation, and I just couldn't stay there.

God bless you all. Thanks for praying, and for your words of encouragement.

Love,

Ann

Dear Ann

i pray that you will find what you are looking for in God. I'm sorry you felt you needed to leave the new fellowship. I pray you will experience God's peace and that also He will give you the means of support and encouragement you need both now and in the future.

Love

If God isn't trying to get your attention in a personal way? Sometimes we look to the church to fulfill our spiritual needs and to a point they do . . . but then comes the time to aggressively seek the face of God in our own personal and quiet time at home because He is drawing us deeper into Him. I find that when things change outwardly from where I was comfortable that God is about to do something inwardly. He doesn't want us to be comfortable in the sense that we stop expecting more. He wants us to expect more and more and more. He is so vast we can never exhaust His knowledge or any experience we have in Him there is always more. I don't mean by seeking others to reveal Him but for us to seek Him to reveal Himself. Ultimately He want's to use us to His Glory. You will always have someone over you in authority (at least I hope so) we all need to be accountable to our elders in the faith but we can seek and grow and then give out from our experience with Him.

Every church has something(s) to work on. You just need to Ask God where He wants you and then stay there until He wants you to move even when there is something that needs improvement in the church. This may take a lot of prayer, fasting, and waiting to hear from God but it's worth it.

Truly that is the key, very well stated!! After all, doesn't God Himself know what He wants to do in us and through us, certainly He knows where we are to be at any given moment. Oh that we would learn to seek His face and then wait on Him!!
