I was thinking the same thing some of the pictures are really very beautiful and deeply spiritual.

I was so sheltered as a child I did not realize Orthodoxy still had enemies. (I though they were all defeated in the old countries - lots of faith just not a lot of history in my house ) anyway- I get to college and meet Protestants who said I was not Christian, Jewish kids who said I worshiped many gods (referring to the Trinity) and Muslims who said that icons were idols. I know know that all this is not that uncommon but at the time it sent my head spinning! (Still does a little actually) (Side note I did meet a lot of great people too )

And this very summer I just had my first introduction to those Chick tract things. A Jewish friend had collected a bunch that she has been receiving almost daily on the subway to show me. Really scary and to make it worse she thinks that all Christians believe all the stuff in them more or less.

To be honest, I think the site, while in one sense horrific and demonstrably antagonistic and hostile, is in another sense a blessing.

The fantastical and shallow attempt at a refutation through non-contextual proof texting, coupled with reliance on sheer emotional outburst, is often enough to get the average thinking person to reconsider his own place inside the Protestant world.

Not all Protestants are that crazy, don't get me wrong. But I used to be one, until very recently. And believe you me...irrational fear characterizes to one extent or another their whole approach to the question of relics and saints.

Love and prayer are our two impenetrable weapons against such nonsensical ravings.

That was just disgusting reading that. But we should take pity on them and pray for whoever it is that made this site, and those who believe such things. Things like this just makes us look bad. And also, that website looks horrible. The person(s) who made that site needs to learn to organize better lol.

And I feel like I should address this since it's not something well-known or thought of very much (at least I don't think it is). Referring to their apparent dislike of the serpents on the crosier, if they knew anything about the Old Testament they would know the serpents on the bishop's crosier is referencing the brass serpent on a pole that God told Moses to make in the 21st chapter of Numbers, which is an archetype of Christ in that everyone who looked at it (Christ) was saved from the "fiery serpents" (the devil) that God sent on the Israelites.

Yeah, that's true too. Most Fundamentalists are ignorant of the many, many sects of Christianity....they believe they're the only ones out there.
