About 8 years ago,a man presented a theory. When God gave Moses the tablets,he broke them off from His throne and wrote the commandments on them.Any comments on this?

As I stated before, I have never heard of such a thing. If you hear it again please find out what biblical texts they use to support it.
It's actually a very fascinating study. Dwight Nelson did a sermon on it.

This text clearly indicates Moses hewed (carved) both the first and the second set of tables and they were just alike complete with God writing he same words on both sets."And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone ike unto the first: and I will write upon these tabls the words that were in the first tables which thou breakest." Ex. 34:1
If you go to Ex. 34:1, you will find Gods instructions to Moses after he broke the first tablets in anger when he returned from Mount Siani to find the people worshiping the golden calf. This text clearly indicates Moses hewed (carved) both the first and the second set of tables and they were just alike complete with God writing he same words on both sets.
While the "Blue Sapphire" is a most interesting presentation, I think it best to keep everything in context.

Hi Woobadooba,
From your post; "Here Moses was given instruction to cut out two tablets of stone himself, whereas before God gave them to him.
Could it be that the first tablets were of sapphire, while the second set was merely of rock?
I think it is worthy of further investigation."
This is not the first time that I've heard about the "Blue Sapphire," and I will readily agree that it is something that is a most interesting study. However some rather well known scholars used the following reasoning; The Ark of the Covenant was the seat of God [the Mercy Seat] here on earth. Once the Ark was competed, dedicated, and installed in the Temple, no one except the high priest could even touch it without beng struck dead. This included Moses. Therefore if a litteral piece of God's Heavenly Throne had been given/handed to Moses, Moses would have been struck dead also if he were to have touched it. As I said, a most interesting study.
Your brother in Christ,
