OK well I thought I would share some information that I learned today with you wonderful people! I am reading this book "Isaac Asimov's Guide to Earth and Space" I wanted to see what you all thought of this. I am just going to quote the book, so i dont confuse anyone, because this Isaac guy explains it really well.
"In very ancient times, when people could move about only on foot and didn't travel much, it was assumed that the world was quite small and that only one's region existed. That is why when, in 2800 B.C., there was a tremendous river flood in the Tigris Euphrates river valley, the Sumaritans who lived there thought the entire world was covered, and that notion has come down to us as the biblical tale of Noah's flood"
Ok, well I read this, and thought it would be smart of me to do more research on this.. so here is what i found.

The last link mentions a few times that there was frequent flooding in sumer.... So this is just about all i could find, im sorry i couldnt provide you with more.
I didnt know what forum to put this in, so i hope putting it here is ok, and that it will get the attention it needs... I just saw it, and wanted to know what you all thought of it. I dont know how many of you already knew about this, so if you did, please bear with me, im slow.
