Something cosmic like what she says...but make it more "Jesusy"!

Not sure what your point is, but it gives some insight as to why i would not consider any of her views as credible.

You're missing the point of the OP. What did I say in the OP as it relates to how "I" see the world? Instead of making a snap judgement call on what you 'think' the implications are, it's probably best to ask, Sis! ;)

So, you don't think that ANYTHING she says in the video has any application to a person who may find herself in a somewhat skeptical position toward the general idea of God, or even (as I imply by the OP) for faith in Christ?

You haven't actually addressed any specific points from Mayim that are presented in the video. And if you read the OP, brinny, then you notice that I said whatever comments anyone wants to make are contingent upon him/her having watched the vidoe. So, here's the $100 question: have you watched the video yet? o_O

This is the OP:
Hey Folks, I just thought I'd drop by--again--and hand off this nifty little video I found made by that science gal from The Big Bang Theory (yes, Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler). She has some interesting things to say which seem to reflect in a substantial way---also in what I'd count as a philosophical kind of way---my own feelings about science and religion.

Sure, sure. I know. She's not a Christian! And sure, she's actually a brilliant person in real life when offset and not in front of the sitcom camera. ^_^ But, hey! I like what she has to say (even if I'd add some "come to Jesus" things in there as well, if I could). Her message is short, but it's meaningful. So, if you want, take a quick listen to what Mayim shares and make whatever comments you want to make ....

I read it.

I read it.

And what about the part in the OP that says something to the effect about, "...taking a quick listen to what Mayim has to say in the video, and then sharing your thoughts"? :dontcare:

Whoa, not the direction I'd have expected this thread to take.

But great video. A little bit too deistic for my tastes, but great points all the same. It's a pity she can't get any of this through to the creators of the Big Bang Theory, at least from what I've seen of the show. But I do not watch it regularly, so maybe it's gotten more even-handed with its take on religion.

It was a suggestion.

When you mentioned the person in the video, unfortunately the hypocrisy came to mind.

That of course effects the credibility of said person.

Yes, it is a bit deistic, but not atheistic, and hence why I've brought it in. ;)

...well, I don't know about the extent to which the creators of the Big Bang Theory have gotten "even-handed." Have you seen the spin off, "Young Sheldon"?

Yeah, something like what she says...but more Jesusy!

What initially got my attention, however, is the title of this thread. in particular the word "Jesusy".

The word intrigues me. Would you care to elaborate on it?

So does being judgmental of others and writing them completely off before being given a hearing ... :dontcare:

But that's what I liked about it! LOL...... :)

Yes, I figured. ^_^ I'm a medievalist, so you lot are too Enlightenment for me. More Greek philosophical terms, less scientific language! (Otherwise we may or may not be on the same page. I'm not sure!)

I'm not sure. I overheard something the other day that involved Sheldon as a child getting into a fight with some fundamentalist church, but I don't watch the show so I figured it was just a flashback. Maybe it was the spin-off. Either way, kind of annoying.

Sure. The "Jesusy" comment is the contextualization I'm giving and adding to what I'd have liked to have seen in Mayim's overall content. In other words, my own approach to the Christian faith is much like her approach to her respective religious outlook (although not identical to). The different being, of course, is that I'd say some of the same things she'd say, but as a Christian, I'd obviously make it center much more on Jesus rather than on a more generic, even Einsteining, type of Jewish faith. That's what my "Jesusy" comment amounts to. I'm not saying she's being Jesusy; I'm saying that I like what she's says, but I'd add a whole lot of Jesus to it.

Does that make more sense now?

^_^ Well, if it makes you feel any better, I've only seen two episodes of "Young Sheldon."

What does it mean to "add a whole lot of Jesus to it"?

On another note, can you break down for me what "Jesusy" means?

Thank you kindly.
