For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils."
Hebrews 7:1-4

From these verses we get the following picture:
1)Melchizedec is equal to the Son of God
2)Melchizedec's ministry is eternal
3)Melchizedec, unlike Jesus, is an independent god, with neither father nor mother.
4)Melchizedec, unlike Jesus, was never "born" or "begotten" but was ever present.
5)Melchizedec, unlike Jesus, will never die but is eternally without death.
6)Everything but God has a beginning of days. Even air, water, and food have a beginning of days. Melchizedec, however, does not. Therefore, he is claimed to not need God nor water, food, nor air to breathe.

The TESTIMONY of JESUS is the SPIRIT of PROPHECY.

Do you understand this TRUTH?

Melchisedec was already there from eternity as said in the verse
Melchizadek was a shadow and theophany pointing us to only ONE TESTIMONY which is the ONE and ONLY TESTIMONY of GOD.

Every word of GOD written is representations, and signs, and symbols, and shadows was a prophecy speaking of and pointing us to CHRIST...

So what do u make of the verses?
As you probably know Melchezidek was a subject of Jewish mystical speculation (much like Enoch). The claims the author of Hebrews made about Melchezidek were not coming from Genesis. If you read Genesis, Melchezidek was mysterious. He might have been a local king who wanted his cut of the war booty else he would take it by force, and Abraham wisely decided to pay his tax. Archaeologists believe the Israelites were closely related culturally to others in the region, so it isn't surprising that Abraham and Melchezidek might have shared religious thinking.

It seems to me that the author of Hebrews was a Hellenistic Jew writing to other Hellenistic Jews who shared a mystical focus on Melchezidek by imagining him as some sort of supernatural character.

The points you mentioned in the OP probably arise from the fluid state of Christology at the time Hebrews was written. The author seemed to have been suggesting that Melchezidek was an early manifestation of Christ, but he didn't notice the differences you listed because the facts about Christ were not canonized yet. There was a lot of variety in early Christian theology, and Hebrews seems to demonstrate that variety even though it eventually made it into the New Testament canon.

Of course that is just my guess, and I'm not an expert at all. I wasn't even aware of the issues you mentioned until you created this thread, but it is very interesting.

No he wasn´t a king who wanted his cut of the booty.

The people were his only concern...as is evident in the account.
Much different than the other king who wanted the people as his ¨reward¨..

Thankfully, Abraham would not relinquish any person to that ¨öther lord¨...

Does that make sense to you, sir?

It is the ongoing struggle even today....

The only thing that Abraham made evident was that he recognized this one as from GOD...

and the other one not from GOD....

And because of this, he would not give any of the men to that other one....

The author was explaining to the struggling Hebrews that CHRIST replaced that other priesthood COMPLETELY...and this priesthood in fact was prior to the one which came forth from Abraham´s loins...

The Levitical priesthood was not superior...it also was a shadow until the fullness of time would come and the ONE to whom all things belonged would take back what rightfully ONLY belonged to HIM...

And no, we aren´t talking about Melchizadek...we are talking about CHRIST who is before all geneology...showing that the levitical priesthood, was only limited to only the Tribes of Israel...but CHRIST, without geneology, without days, is a PRIEST FOREVER in the order of Melchizadek and therefore HIS PRIESTHOOD is NOT limited to only the 12 tribes of Israel...HIS priesthoold is in service to all people , all nations, all generations, from the very beginning up until present, because it is without geneology,..and therefore, BEFORE...ALL...GENEOLOGY....

So in essence you are saying that Jesus had no parents and genealogy even though he did have human parents, because Jesus was not created at birth like a normal human but manifested at birth from an eternal Logos?

According to the flesh, HE is the son of David...according to the SPIRIT, THE SON OF GOD...

Very clear....

There will be no Melchizadek and there will be no more change in the priesthood authority...
There is only one who rent the veil and entered in...and there is only ONE WAY to enter in and it is through that....VEIL....
