When see the almighty as Reality, the whole cosmic environment we are born into, then pathogens are ine of those Facts-of-life that rule us.
The son of such a god is the image of Reality in our mind which we call Truth.

It is Truth that leads us to the still waters of wisdom that allow for inventing antibiotics.

The concept of a god is that we see people with characteristic behaviors which we also seen in previous generations, hence, "immortal."

There are those people who "worship" gold for salvation in this generation as there have been such in all previous generations.
We see women depending upon the males whose strong sexual attraction for them is a foundation for their survival in the economy, and the whole institution of matrimony has grown up around this idea.
In this sense, these are "churches" or "congregations" among us, social groups that appear in every generation.

The myths tried to enumerate and explain the inter-relationships between these twelve or so different fundamental social groups.
